I figured out why I suddenly ship Pharynx and Discord · 3:48am Aug 2nd, 2021
Discord is pretty clueless when it comes to friendship, let alone romance. The only pony he really gets along with is Fluttershy, Spike, and Big Mac. Fluttershy being his first friend, and Spike and Big Mac only after that one episode about DnD. He’s liked annoying others, ‘tis why no one else wants to hang out around him.
Pharynx is a pretty no-nonsense kind of guy. Tired of all the stuff he has to deal with, while also reestablishing the hive’s army. He loves his brother, the hive, and…tolerates Starlight and Trixie. That’s about it. He also gives me major anti-social vibes. Probably has no time for romance in his life.
His and Pharynx dynamic would be of constant annoyance. If Discord is doing something stupid, Pharynx is probably going to yell at him for it. Pharynx being too serious, Discord is going to find a way to mess with his rigid stance.
All the while a budding romance is forming.

Since Discord probably has no experience in romance, he probably doesn’t understand his own emotions. He just thinks he’s getting overly clingy as he does with Fluttershy. Pharynx, on the other hand, realizes that he has a crush and is just like “No. God. Fuck. Why.”
So now it’s just ‘Clueless’ x ‘Violently in denial’ which is honestly my favorite kind of ship.
We actually really do need a fic with these two.
