Of Rags and Meteorites: where's this thing going to end up?

So, this "Ponyville Rag", huh? Things are getting serious for our Dainty Tunes. Imagine, one day, you're just a silly throwaway gag, and, now, you start forming a band, and you might even dare say you're finding a purpose for your life. Is this really happening? Isn't it amazing how music can bring ponies together, especially ponies who'd hardly have a reason to meet otherwise?

    Therapeutic cupcakes? Seems like it!

So, I've just published the next part in the ever unfolding story of Dainty Tunes. This story was written shortly after Pinkie and Her Bane, about two years ago, and it happened because I really started to feel sorry for Dainty. I literally created him for a one-off gag, but it kinda hit me that, if the character were real, that would bring him down.

So I guess I'm new here

It seems I might've joined the party a little too late, but then again, this is a bit of a trend as far as I'm concerned.

The Ponyville Rag has now been fully published. And this is when I feel that odd mix of satisfaction and melancholy that artists often feel.

Satisfaction, because the job has been successfully completed, everything worked out, and we have fulfilled our artistic desire... but melancholy because, well, the end of a story is always a goodbye. Author and characters part ways, after having lived together for quite a while.

Of course, this is what I felt when I actually finished writing the story, which happened at the end of May. Save for a few changes and revisions, I haven't done any actual writing this time around (even though, while I was publishing the story here, I was concurrently translating it to my native language, Portuguese), but it's still a similar feeling.

Writing this story has been an incredible experience. It thrilled and moved me, it helped me connect my present and my past, joining together two different passions. It's a heartfelt homage to Legião Urbana, one of my favourite bands, and also a celebration of this beautiful, fertile universe that is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

I'm a little scared of making compromises and promises, but, honestly, I would like to see these characters again. Maybe their story will go on, but I can't make guarantees. Creating things is often a chaotic, unpredictable process, so I don't know if and when it will happen... but yes, I'd enjoy it.
