Well he's a politician who was Secretary of Defense under Dubya Bush (oh, and Gerry Ford when he was a thing), and was thus pretty instrumental in that whole "Iraq War" clusterfuck, while also being the guy who was in charge of the literal horror show at Abu Ghraib, complete with trying to defend the acts of torture with the euphemism "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques".

Oh, and even you're one of those weirdos who think the Iraq War thing wasn't a big deal, he resigned in 2006 after basically all the generals in the USAF accused him of, quote, "abysmal military planning and lack of strategic competence".

So yeah, to most of us he's a fucking war criminal who should've gotten a trial at the Hague, and even for the hyper-militarist crowd, he was a dipshit who turned an already ill-advised war into a literally unwinnable shitshow.

Well first and foremost, there was the fact the talking points that got America into war with Iraq (both Saddam supposedly manufacturing "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and the even more wild claim he was working side-by-side with Al Qaeda in plotting terrorist attacks on the USA) were later proven to be complete bullshit.

There's the fact there are tens-of-thousands of civilian casualties per year, with a not-so-insubstantial amount being "collateral damage" by US bombers and soldiers (and even the ones caused by crime, insurgents, and even "unknown agents" likely not happening if the US didn't create a gapping power vacuum with said invasion, and THEN did a piss-poor job actually rebuilding the country).

And there are of course the documented outright war crimes committed by US forces in the Iraq War.

So yeah, on the whole, an absolute clownshow from Hell from start to finish, with Rumsfeld and the other Dubya Rogues Gallery goons only making a shit situation thousands-of-times even more fucked than it already was.

Well he was the National Security Advisor/Secretary of State for both Nixon and Ford, and he organized a LOT of war crimes in the name of "anti-Communism", from carpetbombing Laos to the point he unintentionally created the Khmer Rouge as backlash to the untold devestation wrought by America's bombs, to spearheading the USA's attempt to install literal fascists like Pinochet all across South America to massacre socialist movements, even democratically elected ones like Salvador Allende in Chile.

The only "good" things about him was NOT wanting to escalate to the use of nuclear weapons, and negotiations with China to ease off on the development of such. However, considering literally everything else about him, this reaction sums it up:

Honestly wondered what plans Kissinger had if he wanted to take down Deng Xiaoping. Seems like even if he wanted to, the International Community would never allow it.

Also he and Gerald Ford met Suharto the day before the invasion of East Timor. They specifically told Suharto they were worried the invasion would start while they were there but Suharto assured them it’ll be launched the moment they leave the country.
