Story Ideas I'll Never Write: The Crossover: Judgement Day: Cornetto Trilogy: Part 1 · 2:49am May 21st, 2021
I like stories where the mirror portal goes to different worlds than the generic suburban high school, or Sunset goes to X world. The more common one I've seen is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There's several of these stories, some good, some even well written. The issue is they're all to similar. They start along book one and Sunset is young enough to start year 1, but already good with magic. Plot continues mostly uninterrupted or very interrupted. So why not spice up this formula.
Permutation 1. Sunset goes through the mirror portal to find herself in Hogwarts. But it'll be starting with book 2. So instead of the main characters being Sunset and the H.P. trio, it's Sunset - Slytherin, Ginny - Gryffindor, Luna - Ravenclaw, and Sunset - Hufflepuff? Yes the main characters are from each house, including original human Sunset in Slytherin, and pony Sunset in Hufflepuff (cause it's the house she needs, fight me). Each of them becomes something of an outsider in their respective houses which is why they end up coming together and getting into their own magical adventures only tangentially related to the main Harry Potter Plot.
Permutation 180. Sunset goes to Hogwarts, not as a student but as a teacher! This will assume the events of Equestria Girls take place, the exception is that Canterlot High School is actually a magic school. It gets away as a magic school by hiding in plane sight, it has all the trappings of a Public Highschool on the outside so no one would question that the students and faculty are magical. It was founded by Celestia and Luna, contemporaries of Nicholas Flamel. An early twist would be finding out Science Twilight is the only reported incident of a non-magical person acquiring magical ability. Though most wizards and witches don't believe this thinking she was just a "muggle born" with week enough magic to not get noticed before. Of course the main seven know better. Each of the Main 7 have gone on and gotten into their respective careers no matter how magical or not they happen to be. Twilight has gone all in on researching magic and how to replicate the events that gave her magic so she can give it to all of humanity. Meanwhile Sunset seeks to follow her mentors hoof-steps and become a teacher, but she still wants to to help her friend achieve her dream so she applies to Hogwarts the premier school of magic and repository of it's mysteries, where she may find someone who can help her but would she want that kind of help from the shade of Lord Voldemort? Would Sunset even give Lord Voldemort a choice?
