So... New Pokemon Game (spoilers for Nintendo Direct) · 4:51pm Feb 27th, 2019
So a 7 min. announcement for the new Pokemon Sword/Shield (I didn't like the name but now typing it out, it's growing on me). One thing I keep seeing is everyone saying the Galar Region is Great Briton, and I don't see it. What I do see is Italy.
pic for reference
So first off to my knowledge all new Pokemon regions are depicted as if they're islands. The parts that are suppose to connect to other areas are usually hidden in clouds or other visual tricks. So I thought since the north and south ends are kind of hidden that it was an isthmus and possibly Panama, but I threw that out Panama actually runs east - west, not north - south. So my next thought was a peninsula like Florida maybe? then I saw a certain detail. near the center left of this pic is what at first looks like a train track going through mountain tunnels, but I realized are probably suppose to be the famous roman aqueducts. Then everything else fell into place. the northern snow cap mountains, the Alps. looks like there are Rome and maybe Florence analogues. what looks like a Colosseum or Venice in the upper right. Simply to me the map looks like it's suppose to be Italy.
As I look closer I realize where people are getting Great Briton though. the middle city could be London with what looks like Big Ben. Great Briton also has a famous industrial history which this game seems to have as a theme. but time can only tell.
