My Review of Holiday Unwrapped · 1:22am May 16th, 2021

Grading Scale:

A (fantastic episode)
A- (an excellent episode with at least one flaw)
B+ (a great episode with a couple of flaws)
B (a good episode which still could have been better)
B- (a good episode with numerous flaws but still rewatchable)
C+ (a decent episode)
C (eh... it’s not terrible but not good either)
C- (it’s not worth rewatching although it does have good elements)
D+ (a bad episode with a few good things in it)
D (a really bad episode with wasted potential)
D- (a terrible episode with badly written characters and butchered moral)
F (horrible and unwatchable)

This is gonna be a little hard to review. As I welcome you all to my final Equestria Girls review, I present to you all the only so-called special that is made up of nothing but random holiday shorts that were never intended to be compiled together and released like this. Holiday Unwrapped isn’t terrible in any way, shape, or form, but it is definitely not the best one of them all either. As a matter of fact, this was fairly mediocre as a whole. I won’t even review any of these clips because I personally prefer not to review clips, shorts, or 11-minute episodes.

There is no coherent narrative that follows these shorts because they are so randomly compiled together. I don’t know the actual reasons why they did that (besides knowing that they were previously going to do a season 2 finale before it was canceled), but it just felt so lazy they did this. Oh boy, what else can I say?

I do admit these shorts had adorable and entertaining moments with Sunset and her friends, but it wasn’t really enough for me. While I can feel the “Friendship is Magic” vibes from these shorts, it would have been better if they had a narrative to follow so it can all fit together.

Although I do have one question I have for Sunset: How did she gain access to a snowflake’s memory? Actually, why and how is it a snowflake even has one? It is not even a living thing, and it has memories somehow??

So... that’s all I have for this. I will grade this a C.

So yeah... Equestria Girls is overall a hit and miss series for me. I’m kinda disappointed they canceled the season 2 finale and, with it, season 3 to see things come full circle especially with the human version of Sunset. I only like Friendship Games (the best of the series), Legend of Everfree, Movie Magic, and Spring Breakdown. Everything else was either mediocre or bad.

Thanks for hearing me out, guys. This Monday, I will get back to my old job of reviewing the season 9 episodes of MLP specifically the last seven episodes. Oh boy... wish me luck, folks. Lol

My question was how was an owl there in the winter?

That’s another good one! Never noticed that. 🤔

I get that Fluttershy has a way with animals, but her powers can't overrule an animal's natural instincts.

And it wasn't a Arctic Owl otherwise it'd be different.

When I reviewed this special, I treated it more like it was a television series since it was a compilation of specials. That was why I made a TV show analysis of it rather than an episode analysis.

Personally, I thought that "Holidays Unwrapped" was really fun as a television series rather than as a TV special. The only things I had an issue with were that the characters didn't seem to have much in the ways of growth and the stories didn't have any morals to live by.

Man.... I'm still a little..... well... middle of the road thing when it comes to Holidays Unwrapped, specifically how Hasbro didn't want to give EG a much proper conclusion than what we saw at the end of Holidays Unwrapped with it being left open. ^^'

Ah well... at least there's the fanbase though.
