Hey, everyone. It’s time for yet another Equestria Girls review which is entitled Legend of Everfree. After having watched the previous movie, I had thought that the next installments would be as highly interesting as Friendship Games was. But as I watched this one however, it is definitely a good one although not as great as the third movie. There were some things that kinda dragged the story down such as the romance subplot with Timber, but it was still an interesting film with more adventurous vibes.

The Human Main Seven were decent as usual along with Spike, and the character progression was once again done well. However, I am really not a fan of Timber; just like with Flash Sentry, he is neither an interesting character nor a good character. To me, he is a walking cardboard who serves no significant purpose for this story and was only here to be Sci-Twi’s love interest. It really sucks he’s even featured in a few Equestria Girls episodes after this.

The story and plot were okay, but it wasn’t that intriguing enough for me to sit through. But I will say that it had some good songs and a decent score thanks to William Anderson.

What I found mostly interesting however was the fact that Sci-Twi experienced traumatic moments with her inner demons (in her case, Midnight Sparkle) throughout the movie which emotionally weakened her to some degree. Even during the final battle when the stakes were so high, she had to fight her evil self back so she could help her friends save their camp.

That was really intense and served as a great way to develop Sci-Twi’s character even further. Ishi Rudell directed this really well.

Gloriosa Daisy/ Gaia Everfree was a decent antagonist overall and honestly had a very reasonable motivation for the things she did. As a matter of fact, her very own camp was in danger of being turned into a spa resort by Filthy Rich and had to do what she thought was right although it was wrong. Plus, her own redemption actually made sense and wasn’t rushed unlike the other EG antagonists. At the end of the day, she was pretty okay to watch.

Overall, this movie was somewhat entertaining with great voice acting and dialogue although it definitely could have been better in terms of the plot and some of the characters. I will give this a 7/10. Thanks for reading this and stay tuned for my review of Dance Magic.

Peace!

It's such ashame when a person's good intentions turn them bad.

I have to admit, I was expecting you to go into a rant because of certain things about the movie. I was pleasantly surprised, of course. But, I’m also happy that you enjoyed the film. And I agree, Sci-Twi’s focus and her struggles with her inner demons were some of the best moments the film offered, and I’ve often found myself relating to what she was going through.

One does have to admit: Legend of Everfree does provide a nice relief of having the main setting be at a camp as oppose to the first three where on the human world (Mainly in the case of the first two) be at Canterlot High School. :)

Heh.... am I right on that or what? ^^
