I've noticed YouTube has gotten even more retarded and more sensitive about content that regular creators are uploading. They've done so by making it painfully annoying to monetise your content by individually selecting options for videos in the form of multi-choice dropdown boxes. Like, je. sus. Christ!
So, if you want to monetise your content now, you must do a painfully slow and inconvenient check box sheet. It's purely for the sake of YT being able to determine what ads they can show on your video and how to limit them. I'm not too pleased by it at all, and I don't see it being a staying factor on YT's platform. It's ridiculous. I did it around five times to make sure my videos aren't going to be taken down or I get flagged and/or banned from the platform. That would suck.
The way it's being treated so far for creators like myself makes it feel like a very sick, blatantly frustrating joke. The punchline? More of a kick in the knackers. I got a bit triggered when I was setting my options down for a certain video by Grimm under the narcotics tab, and it said something like, ''used in a comedic way'', and I'm sat here with itching nerves. Nothing about narcotics is funny. Addiction isn't funny. OD'ing isn't funny. Making yourself suffer because you're an addict isn't funny. I don't know why the hell they'd even say that as an example of what that specific option entails.
A lot of things don't bother me due to being massively desensitised by it because of the type of upbringing I had, but that is very closely about to dig into my nerves. I have yet to see a comedy surrounded by drug use or referring to drugs. That's more dark humour than anything. It isn't funny to somebody like me for many reasons. This might sound like I'm exaggerating or overreacting to it when it was probably not meant to be taken this way, but that is how it sounds from how the example was phrased.
I don't monetise my videos unless I had permission from the author first to record the reading, if it belongs to me and is my own creation, or if it's a short video. I don't monetise videos that are a half-hour to an hour+ in length because nobody can be willing to sit through an ad every five minutes. I personally can't stand that, so I won't make you suffer through that. That's not exactly fair and it takes away the immersion. Those are the rules I follow personally when I create content.
I'm still new to it all and trying to figure out what way works best, but I'm not going to be too happy if this becomes a regular thing and is mandatory. They have an automatic checker for this, so why would we have to waste time at a painstakingly slow pace to fill in the boxes when we never had to before up until now? YouTube, pull your shit together. You're becoming a nightmare for many of us.

If it carries on this way in the future and nothing gets done about it, I fear that many creators will abandon the platform. I'm thinking of doing that myself if it gets too restrictive. It's taking the fun and drive out of it for a lot of YTbers.
