I'm giving the Bible (NIV) away · 9:50am Mar 30th, 2021
I've been posting status updates on Facebook regarding this matter and sadly, no one replied either in the comments or DM.
The reason I'm giving it away is because it is a traumatic symbol of my sister who used religion to hurt me and forced me to be a Christian. It's also used by conversion therapy pastors to beat people to force them into being straight.
I'm a progressive but not so deeply religious Protestant and personally, the book doesn't have a significant impact. I just don't want to see it ever again. What's not meaningful to me may be meaningful to others.
Update: No one wanted it.
I completely understand. What started life as a gospel of liberation has been distorted into a litany of hate.

This was originally produced for American audiences, but I think it gets the point across.
You could just throw it out. This isn't just about what it means (although it might be satisfying), it's also about how anybody who wants a Bible already has one. Or two. Or five. I have a couple myself, and I'm not even Christian. They just kind of collect, like dust bunnies. The world won't miss it.

Where I'm from, the population is predominantly Catholic. If I throw it away, people would call me out and/or cancel me for doing something "unholy" or "disrespectful".

It definitely gets the point across. Are the last 2 "teachings" made up for self-righteous reasons?

Neither of them are mentioned in the Bible. The only thing Jesus says about marriage is that divorce isn't permitted- a statement ignored by most Christian denominations.

Well, divorce is the way to get out of a toxic and unhealthy marriage.

Indeed it is.

Sadly, it's not yet legalized where I'm from. Because of that, a lot of couples are not happy being with each other due to financial problems, domestic violence, and other conflicts. Basically, their lives are a living hell.

That's the case in a lot of Catholic countries, sadly. My parents lived in Bavaria (part of Germany) for a decade or so, and similar issues reared their ugly head.
Your sister seems to be using religion as an excuse to be extremely crappy toward you

Yeah, no shit. She was also an abusive extrovert. It was the most fucked up thing she's ever done to me.
