the reactiveness of writers · 11:16am Feb 22nd, 2021
I've seen more than once writers responding to something by leaping to the opposite extreme (I'm guilty of this myself).
One writer had Nightmare Moon teleport some Nazis as her minions to Equestria, apparently serving her for no apparent reason.
Another writers' response was to have the Nazis shoot Nightmare Moon and try to conquer Equestria themselves... yes... one group of soldiers was gonna be able to conquer and hold an entire country.
On a related subject:
Writers IMHO really, really, REAAAAALLLY underestimate how much the Nazis wanted their "undesirables" dead: Jews, Gypsies, Catholics, Homosexuals, etc. Even when the war turned against them they refused to divert resources from their death machinery to their war effort. And writers underestimate how much the Nazis were determined to destroy the Jewish people even before the death camps were opened.
If alien invaders showed up when the Nazis were in power, the Nazis WOULD NOT have put their plans for mass murder on hold.
They'd just have added the aliens to the list.
Nightmare Moon: "And now, I shall teleport literal Nazis here to aid my cause! Because I'm evil! Nyah hahaha!"
Blank Wolf: "Grrrr!" *chomp*
Nightmare Moon: "And now, I shall teleport an army of my loyal thestral soldiers here from exile, while banishing the dormant Elements to a distant corner of the dream realm known only to myself! Hahaha! Having unexplained powers over time and space is MOST convenient!"
Blank Wolf: *facepaw* *CHOMP*

The Flaky Writers-verse version of Twilight, Deus Ex Machina mostly handles twists that aid the heroes, rather than ones that aid the villains.

But still get rejected by the Blank Wolves, no?
