Horror Story Recommendations?

Hi
I’ve been really interested in horror lately. I want to read a few stories at the site, both because I think it’ll be fun and help me work more skill in writing more completing stories (because I hate my other horror story).

Problem is, I’m a total wuss. Is there any...beginner...type horror stories? Just to get me desensitized to anything I might read afterwards.

I’m open to any suggestions as long as they aren’t mature rating.

Hm...there's a Nightmare Night themed horror story rated Teen that involves the Young Six exchanging horror stories, you could try that if you want

You’re getting into horror, too? Cool!

I’d recommend anything that’s not something like Cupcakes or Sweet Apple Massacre. It’s not that they’re too scary, it’s that they try too hard to be scary, with all the overused gore that’s only there just for shock value.

Overused gore is not what makes your story automatically scary. It’s the tension, the paranoia, the fear that the reader feels, stuff like that. I covered it in a blog some time ago, if you’re interested.

I’d also recommend listening to a Brony called “The Lost Narrator” who narrates a variety of dark and/or horror fics in the MLP community.

The Secret Life of Rarity is closer to a tragedy with horror themes rather than a complete horror story, but it should be suitable. Blink is another interesting piece of horror, if a bit short.
