Hello 2021! (And Other Ramblings) · 5:59pm Jan 4th, 2021
Happy New Year to everyone (everypony)!
Wow, has this been a crazy year or what?! Well, hopefully things can only go up from here. I hope everyone's in good health and even better spirits. So now it's time for my obligatory update on, well, everything. On a positive note, my COVID test came back negative though I'm still feeling ill. But it's fine, really, I'm okay.
For those of you wondering about updates on certain stories like A Pup Named Fenrir and Care to Take a Lady Out on a Date?, I AM in the process of uploading new chapters of each. I've just been doing a lot of rewrites since I'm overly-critical of my own work, which is funny since writing is really the only time that I'm a perfectionist. That and I'm devoting more time to my head-canon universe and want to finish All Hail, Midnight Sparkle! at some point so that I can move onto the next story. I do find it funny that stories like Care to Take a Lady Out on a Date? tend to have more readers considering how I'm not a romance writer and have no real interest in the genre. Romance, as a genre, is honestly the most boring and limiting one, at least in my opinion.
Unlike fantasy or sci-fi, there's not a lot of storytelling potential, unless you combine it with another genre, such as romance/mystery, romance/fantasy, et cetera. So if that's the case, why did I write it and its predecessor? Simple: because I was having trouble sleeping and I came across a random picture that I used as a writing prompt: audience proxy gets drunk and bangs Rarity. Simple right? But then I decided to write a follow-up depicting the morning after and that just turned into something bigger than I originally intended.
As I've said before, I'm working on the next two chapters for it, as well as the next chapters for A Pup Named Fenrir, All Hail, Midnight Sparkle!, and Starlight and Spike's Excellent Adventure (for those who actually remember that one). Yeah, I tend to add more to my plate than I can possibly eat but I'm a story-glutton with a head full of ideas and a need to get them down. So thanks to everybody still with me and patiently awaiting the next installments of my works. I know it's frustrating to wait for the next chapter, believe me, I'm a reader on this site as well as a writer, so I know how much it sucks. However, much like the dragons and ice-zombies in George R.R. Martin's books, they are coming.
Wait, that's a terrible example. And just reminds me of the ending to Game of Thrones. Sh**, now I'm depressed.
Anyway, much love and gratitude to everyone that's favorited and followed my works. Now I have 224 followers and that may not sound like a lot but it really means so much to me. I really want to pay all of you back and earn the subscriptions. As I previously stated a while back, despite the show's conclusion, I will remain on the site as both a content creator and reader as long as humanly possible. Trust me, I have a lot of ideas that I want to get out and hopefully there will be a steady stream of readers to peruse them, especially my big, epic head-canon series.
Here's to a new year and a bright future to everyone!
Stay groovy, colts and fillies!
Love,
MisterEdd
