Hey, fellas. Here is my review of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. To be honest, this movie isn’t my cup of tea. While I appreciate and enjoy the wonderful animation, songs, and character designs, the very story itself is not that interesting to me. This is probably one of my least favorite Disney films of all time. It is definitely not an awful film, but it is not that amazing either at least in my humble opinion. But if you love this movie, good for you! Enjoy your favorite movies as you should! So here are my thoughts:

1). Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson) is one of those princesses I don’t really care about. Plus, she is rebellious, stubborn, acts like a brat, and generic. But hey, she’s a teenager right? (Gasp) Wait a minute... she is sixteen years old, and yet she dates and later on marries a grown ass man at the end of the movie. (Clears throat) Gentlemen, allow me to say this out loud:

FBI, OPEN UP!!!!

Seriously, what is the age of consent for those mermaids anyway?? Ughhhh, so she is not in the least relatable to me, and I don’t find her interesting at all. But hey, at least she is better than Rey. At least she has personality flaws and issues with her father...

2). Eric... Eric is just... boring. What more can I say about him? Prince Charming with good looks and is well-mannered and has to save her princess from the evil villain... no thanks. No personality, no distinct qualities, and no identifiable traits of a good, well-developed character.

3). The comedy is good though, so I’ll give them that. Oh, and Under the Sea is actually pretty good and well-composed. I swear, these Disney songs are more entertaining and noteworthy than some of these films themselves, and that alone says something. I actually like Sebastian as a character since he is very funny. Flounder? Ehhh, not so much.

4).

Pat Carroll has really outdone herself by bringing to life one of the most iconic Disney villains of all time: Ursula. She isn’t one of my favorite villains, but I do like her to some degree. She is very manipulative, cunning, evil, deceptive, power-hungry, and even opportunistic. Her Poor Unfortunate Soul song is also well done and iconic. Still, it pales in comparison to Hellfire and Be Prepared. So this movie is a hit and miss for me. It’s just overall meh, but it does have some redeeming qualities. Of course, that isn’t saying much. It gets a 5/10 from me.

So that concludes my reviews of the Disney Renaissance films! Don’t worry, I will review other classic Disney films and also modern Disney movies in the future. While this series has awesome and entertaining movies, it also has mediocre and below average ones. Still, they were worth reviewing. Thanks for reading, and I hope that you guys have a great evening and merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

And this Sunday, I will be making a blog about something that actually inspired me to be a member of this fanfiction website as well as a fanfic writer. It was really something... I will never forget. So stay tuned for that. I will be taking a break from making reviews for a while until next week.

See ya!

What are your thoughts on her death?

I actually thought you weren't going to touch that one.

It was quite gruesome, but not as dark and epic as Scar’s death and Frollo’s death.

5420875
This movie is a part of the Disney Renaissance Era, so what made you think I wasn’t going to review this movie?

5420885
It wasn't as good as it Kingdom Hearts counterpart.

His death is second, and Frollo’s demise is first.

5420921
Hahahahaha, why include him? His death was pathetic.

5420934
And Frollo's was satisfying.

It was once stated by the filmmakers that Ariel was 16 years old while Eric was 18 years old, so Eric’s only a couple years older than Ariel.

That’s still creepy, and it is considered pedophilia by today’s standards because 18 is a legal adult age... at least here in the U.S. She is still a minor. It might have been legal in Ariel’s universe, but in reality, it is illegal and wrong.

I don’t know. It isn’t uncommon for a woman to be dating a man who is a year or two older than her.

You’re missing the point. It’s the age difference that I am addressing. As long as you are of age (18 or older), you can date or marry someone.

Pat Carroll has really outdone herself by bringing to life one of the most iconic Disney villains of all time: Ursula. She isn’t one of my favorite villains, but I do like her to some degree. I have just one question:

Is it wrong of me to view Ursula as the most attractive of Disney’s villainesses?

I don’t know why, but ever since I last saw this movie...I’ve been finding myself having a crush on her.
