Hey there! Here is my review of Disney’s Hercules! This is yet another one of those classic and popular Disney gems that really brought enjoyment to our childhoods; this film likewise has a great storyline, hilarious and entertaining characters, great animation, and a memorable villain... ESPECIALLY THE VILLAIN(S). But knowing Disney and how they handled things from every source material, this is another example of a story being revisioned in a way that does not fall in harmony with the source material completely. In this case, it is from Greek Mythology. Nevertheless, I will be reviewing this movie based on its own merits. After all, we are dealing with Disney.😏

Anyway, let’s get right into it!

1). The titular character (voiced by Tate Donovan) was kidnaped by two minions of Hades—Pain and Panic by name—as a baby, and he has been turned into a mortal after drinking a potion although he still possessed his godlike strength. After he playfully defeated them, he is adopted by a couple on earth. He grows up into a young man while struggling to keep his mighty strength in check. I love his character and the way they developed him throughout the movie.

After he meets Phil (voiced by Danny DeVito) and reunites with the fully grown Pegasus, he begins his training by becoming a much more mature and powerful hero the people can look up to. Ever since he defeated the Hydra, he was praised by people and continued to exert his superhero persona while he completely missed the most important aspect of being a TRUE hero. This is what Zeus had to remind him about. If he wanted to return back to Olympus, he must learn and apply that aspect. Oh boy, did he truly learn that lesson when he actually put his life on the line to rescue Meg’s soul from Hades. Speaking of whom...

2).

Come on now! This guy is just... SUPERB! I cannot imagine anyone else taking the role of Hades! James Woods was simply BORN for that role! He can never be replaced. Truly one of the most iconic villains within the Disney universe. Even House of Mouse made him very funny and fantastic just as this movie did. His humor, his sarcasm, his short-tempered personality, his wits, and his evil demeanor were the very things that made him such an iconic villain... especially his humor and fiery disposition. Even Maleficent was attracted to such a violent emotion. Thus, he was the best part of the film.

3). Every other character was either good or decent. As for Phil, he was a funny guy as well. His lines of dialogue were well written, hilarious, and entertaining. Megara was also good; I didn’t like her at first around the first half of the movie until the last half. That was where she came in full circle and realized how much her relationship with Hercules meant. To think that he decided to remain a mortal just to spend his life with her is... wow. That’s just an emotional character growth to me.

4).

These guys are awesome! These are the baddies I’m saving for last. They were very threatening, immensely powerful, appealing, and were quite exotic in terms of their design and capabilities. The fact that they are elemental monsters whom Zeus imprisoned many years ago is just so cool. I’m serious, if they are not featured in any MLP fan fiction crossover out there or in this website, I’ll be disappointed. Maybe it’s just me, but they have the potential to being more than just monsters or Titans. I can imagine them having more vocabulary not limited to one or two words and actually having a personality. Through the use of good writing, it can be done just right! Oh, and Hydros (The Lurker/Ice Titan) is my favorite of them all.

And that’s it! I like this movie, and I would definitely recommend it....

AND THEN ALONG CAME ZEUS!!!! He hurled his thunderbolt............ a bolt of 9/10 ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Another Disney movie I either haven't seen or haven't paid attention to. Though I remember this being on at daycare, so... more on the low-attention side.

Never knew, or remembered, James Woods in this movie. Only saw him on Family Guy... that I know of.

Am I the only one who thinks Hercules having a Cyclops companion would've been cool?

I love this movie not just for the story, but also for the monsters that were featured in it, even for a brief moment.

*ahem* "Baby, you mean, Hunkules."

Bless my soul! This film is really great!
