Thoughts on "may the best pet win"

This episode was special as we got introduced to the new pet in the MLP family, Tank the tortoise. Most of the pets in MLP have their personality traits, with Opal the cat being overly aggressive and territorial, Winona the dog mainly being happy and cheerful, Angel the bunny being cunning and Machiavellian, Owlwishes the owl being generally down to earth, and Gummy being oblivious and downright cute. But Tank has to be my favorite of all six as he is simply the most tenacious of the six. Throughout the episode, he demonstrated that trait of not giving up on being Rainbow Dash's pet despite her constantly belittling him. I love the fact of all the pets; he was the one who saved Rainbow from the avalanche at the race in the end, which was interesting because he was told not to come to the race, and he did it anyway. I do love how Rainbow realized how wrong she was at the end, which, in my opinion, was one of the first times we've seen her show such humility in the show. Overall, Tank is fantastic, and having his little helicopter device fly was genius on the writer's part.

Random thoughts

I think the Moray eels part references the shrieking eels from the movie "The princess bride," but I could be wrong.

Of all the pets, the bat was my favorite. He was interested in using echolocation to get through the cactus and making music with the wine glasses.

The song Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash sing in the episode was pretty good, not memorable, but overall not bad.

I did laugh at the part where they had the pets try to take the toy from Opal. That was genius, and I wish that gag was extended a bit to show how badass Opal is.
