Ugh... what a complete waste of a movie. So this is how this trilogy ends? With this... walking trash heap? Really? (Sigh) In all seriousness, they could have made this film a much better sequel than the last movie. This could have been one of the best Marvel films of all time, but they did this to us. I got to say that I hated this movie ever since I watched it for the first time. Bad writing and bad direction critically affected this film. The only thing that made me excited and hyped was seeing Ben Kingsley playing the main villain; he is one of my favorite actors of all time and is really talented in his roles. I could care less about this Manderin dude! I just wanted to see Ben Kingsley shine in this movie! But no... they did him absolutely dirty here. How disappointing...

1). This movie has—hands down—the worst plot twist in cinema history. It turned out the Manderin who was threatening and formerly attacking Tony Stark is actually... a fake? An actor? He actually was hired to play him for the REAL Manderin??? What?? The fake guy is just some bumbling idiot sitting on his ass? Poor Kingsley... I hated the fact that he was given a minimal role in this film. But that’s not all.

2). The jokes in this film are not funny and cringeworthy. Whoever that real villain was (whom Potts was familiar with) is just a cliche “muahahahaha” type of villain with no real substance. I don’t feel any kind of emotion for that guy. He is bland and really boring. However, the action scenes were really awesome to look at. The CGI is great, the acting was great, but the story was poorly written and badly executed. It’s nowhere as engaging as the story was in the first movie. I will say that those Iron Man prototypes were nicely designed.

3). And... that’s just about it. The only confusing part at the end was Tony Stark retiring from being Iron Man. Umm, am I missing something? How come we see him as Iron Man in the other MCU films like Infinity War and Endgame? He even DIED as Iron Man in Endgame saving the universe! So how could he be Iron Man again after all the technology was destroyed at the end of Iron Man 3? A plot hole and continuity error I suppose. 3/10

Like I said, they could have ended this trilogy in a much more satisfying way. If only this potential was not wasted away like this...

I was actually really enjoying the movie right up until the Mandarin twist. After that, however, it turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments I have ever experienced in a movie theater.

Indeed. It could have been so much better had they ANY idea of what they were doing.

Then, about six years after the film's release, we got a slight variation of the twist in The Ending of the End.

AND IT WAS EVEN WORSE!

(Groans)... don’t remind me...

For me, even though it was not real, I still enjoyed Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin act. He actually managed to make himself menacing both to the audience and the characters. I also liked how Tony got help from a child prodigy.

That’s true. I just wish we’ve seen more of him.

The ending of this movie was actually touched upon by civil war, when he said that he destroyed his suits, then he had to fight again to get Loki's scepter which led to AoU, "and then and then and then, I never stopped, because the truth is, I don't wanna stop." So not a plot hole. Just sort of anticlimactic in retrospect considering that big ending to the trilogy had little to no lasting effects on the MCU. I guess it did cause Pepper and Tony to take a break, which somewhat contributed to Tony's character in CW, so it's something at least. Also yes he destroyed all his suits, but not all his tech, and we've seen those suits can be built rather easily by him with the help of said tech.

Still doesn’t make the movie any better for me.
