Hey, to all who follow Shadows. It's been a while since we had an update, but here is a nice little dump of concept arts that didn't get into the final story, but were made to get an idea of what characters were going to look like:
Cinder Razorclaw (Deathclaw) - Human form
Cinder's concept was based heavily on her dragon form, and her tattoo was a concept based upon her dragon form and her necklace. We liked the idea that she is a taller woman built tougher than most.
Novalight "Nova" Glimmer
The plucky and mischievous daughter of Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst was actually conceived as a concept by Applety. Her creation stemmed from a conversation we had where she felt that Starlight as a mother would create an amusing concept. Furthermore, she liked the idea of her being an additional cog in the machine for the kids' adventure. Nova ended up being a personal favorite of Applety and her personality ended up being amusing to play with.
Yuna Cresent
Though her family's last name is never explicitly stated in the story, Yuna's concept came fairly late in the story but began shortly before Act VII began. Yuna was a character who I personally fell in love with and enjoyed giving sort of a "fold" to Horizon's deadpan personality. Like her sister before her, she has a deep admiration for the Shimmer family.
Keylime Pie
The energetic and strange daughter of Pinkie Pie. Keylime's father was never decided in the entire planning phase, so I ultimately decided it was more fun to play with the idea of Pinkie being a single mom. She shares a lot of similarities with her mother, but she's more of an even more random version of everyone's favorite cake maker.
