The Genesis. Before I knew I liked it, my sister found it first. I like the feeling of it, so airy, so light, feels like you got nothing else in the world you care about except this moment. It’s no secret that this inspired Coco and Yttrium’s relationship.

Coco expresses herself well through designing, but has a hard time with regards to words. Looking up the translation to the song, there are a lot of repeated lyrics, as if the singer is stuttering. I imagined Coco this way, but I didn’t know who to pin her crush on.

I know how unstable a ship of Cannon Character X OC can be. In Transparent Living, I broke through my fear of judgement with this particular type of ship. Of course, they are leaning on the platonic side, so I can retract said developing ship just in case (e.g. Diamond Tiara X Napoleon but was forced to take a back-seat when Vertigo X Napoleon became stronger). However, Coco X Yttrium is one of the more daring ships that broke through that platonic barrier and became something more.

Considering it, the whole idea of Coco breaking her leg to save Randolph and being shipped off to the hospital (no pun intended), then having a crush on Yttrium was a happy accident. Funnily enough, it seems to have a technical term: (Florence Nightingale Effect), although the trope breakage is due to the fact that it happened the inverse way, where the patient falls in love with the caregiver.

My thought process went as follows: (1) (Early section two (Ch 7), as an after-thought) Okay, we established that Coco has a crush on Yttrium, who is a doctor, how would’ve the relationship begun? (2) (few weeks later, Section 3 (Ch 13), completely unrelated train of thought) I decided that Randolph was an early mentor character of Coco. I connect the pieces with him telling an embarrassing story of Coco in detention, but then saving his life from a falling sewing machine, then needing to go to the hospital. (3) (Section 4 (Ch 19), finally connected the two wires) Dazzle sees a picture of Coco and Yttrium when they were elementary-school age. Although not mentioned explicitly, this is when the small idea flourished. Connecting the dots… HMMM… after Coco gets a broken hindleg, she goes to the… HOSPITAL! Wait a second… HUZZAH! IDEA!

Now, we are here when the idea is confirmed fact. Here we are at Ch 36 & 37, where Yttrium tells the story to Dazzle. Besides the main storyline, I’m amazed that this idea worked so perfectly.

Anyways, I’ve rambled on too much. Enjoy the rest of your day and remember, sometimes we need some ‘happy accidents’ (Bob Ross… is that you?)
