Some bad personal news · 4:51pm Aug 27th, 2020
Hi everyone,
I posted this on the public-facing Discord channel (https://discord.gg/cncfY6f) for The Master Mev a few days ago, but I do believe it is time to say it here, too. In short, my older brother is dying. He has had something called a "ruptured aneurysm on the anterior communicating artery," and it looks like it was not caught in time. The situation is very bleak, and he is not expected to survive. Well wishes, thoughts, or prayers would be appreciated. Coincidentally, Sunday was the twelfth anniversary of my dad passing away. Back then, I took a day for one of the most intense cries of my life, some time to make a slide show for his funeral, and attending the actual funeral. However, I also still went to work in the days that followed and went about the rest of my life as best I could under the circumstances.
The last I heard, he is getting worse fast, so I am going to leave work early today and be with my family for whatever we need to do.
As you can imagine, this means a delay for Saturday morning's chapter of The Master Mev is very likely. If it is delayed, I do not expect that delay to be long. Everything's actually ready besides my last read-through for any possible minor edits. I know that people are sympathetic and understanding enough to know a chapter delay is nothing compared to losing a loved one, but I still wanted to let you all know regardless.

UPDATE 08/29/2020: I don't want to make a whole new post for this situation. My older brother was not getting worse quickly like I thought when I made this post, but he is not getting better either. We said our good-byes at the hospital yesterday and started something called "comfort care," which focuses on making him comfortable and letting his body take its course. The expectation from the doctor is that his body will likely choose to pass on soon after that, could be hours, could be days. Even if he somehow made it out of that, he would need a lot of care from then onward.
