Guyrin the batpony · 4:34pm Aug 21st, 2020
Since there's no real canon rules about batponies, I decided to loosely use the Fallout Equestria canon with a few modifications considering Equestria hasn't been destroyed in my scenario. Now Guyrin cannot speak like a normal pony because his vocal cords emit much higher frequencies, higher than equine (or human) ears could hear. All he can do is whimper, moan, and hiss... That said, I also decided that each batpony will have a power! In Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons for example, Stygian the batpony can teleport. Since Guyrin has communication issues, I decided to give him a "free pass" in this instance and give him the ability to impose or retract thoughts within other minds. Now since we don't want him "overpowered," I also decided to limit this free pass to once every few days.
Of course batponies are nocturnal! While sunlight does not harm them, they don't really like it and much prefer to be somewhere dark. In Fallout Equestria, batponies can and do travel during the day, but since they aren't in a wasteland, I'm thinking they have more options. As for Guyrin's job, I obviously needed something at nighttime that was lonely because I wanted to illustrate that the poor guy really just wants a companion. He finally mustered the courage to try and wow Marybelle at the beginning of my story because he goes to MMA events sometimes on his days off and he really wanted to meet this pony. He saw her fight and was entranced. He decided that since he would want a tough pony anyway and since he can try for any mare he might care to, he went for her!
Batponies are also capable of flight with their leathery bat like wings. And while Guyrin is certainly no exception, he has yet to actually fly with Marybelle simply because the Pegasus fighter will not fly at night. In which case, it occurs to me that if the little batpony ever is to fly with her, he'll need to do some things first! But it at least affords him a fast way to get home in the meantime. The truth is, I have some ideas on this one already...
Batponies are naturally shy towards non-batponies, even though they need to interact with them in order to get by in pony society. Guyrin has worked his way around Ponyville and most of the night crews there know him at this point. But he doesn't usually converse with non-batponies and so he feels timid and even threatened at points. It takes almost every ounce of courage he has to be with Marybelle, but he also knows the pain of being alone very well and he's decided that it's worth it at this point. Although I sometimes wonder how long before he requests that they just stay in?
So that's what I got for my version of batponies at this point and Guyrin is the first OC produced with this model! I hope you've enjoyed!
