Hello there! Here is my review of Spider-Man 2! Just like its predecessor, this was another amazing movie but amplified tenfold. It had a memorable villain, deep and moving dialogue, compelling characters, engaging action scenes, powerful soundtrack, and a great story. I have to say that this film is much better than the first one. Here’s what I got from this film:

Spider-Man: He was well-written and was terrific as much as he was in the first movie. Toby Maguire was again excellent in his role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. In this movie, he is trying to adjust his ways of life while being a superhero crime-fighter. However, his double life affected his studies at school and some of his relationships. Harry Osborn still has grudges against the masked spider for the death of his father and harbors a vengeance against him. It gets even worse for Peter as MJ Watson has a love interest of her own. Distraught by the sight and struggling as to whether he loves her or not, he begins to gradually lose his powers. No longer wanting to take the responsibility with such great power, he steps down from being Spider-Man and pursues a normal life. He is such a compelling and powerful character because he is going through these disturbing phases in his life that is forcing him to take off the mask of heroism. He tries to be who he is but his conflicting feelings for MJ and being so entangled by his own emotional weaknesses are bringing him down. This right there is something I loved most in The Dark Knight. A protagonist going through these trials to test his character to see what he’s truly made of is something that must always be noted. That gives him more character development and the chance to be more fleshed out. I love Spider-Man more in this movie than in the first movie. They did a fantastic job with his character. Now, the villain:

Doc Ock:

Alfred Molina was fantastic as Otto Octavius! He was perfect for the role as he displayed the cunning, intimidating, intelligent, sadistic, cold, logical, as well as sympathetic, tragic, and powerful traits of the villain. He was someone who not only had a great relationship with his wife but also someone who gave words of wisdom to Peter which can definitely apply to us today: “Intelligence is not a privilege; it’s a gift, and you use it for the good of mankind.” Wise words to live by. Also, when he loses his wife and his scientific experiment fails, he loses his sanity and much of his morals as the mechanical psyche from his robotic arms took over his mind. You become terrified of him, but at the same time, you can’t help but feel sorry for him. Behold, a tragic villain ACTUALLY done right! How many modern villains nowadays are like him? He had such a great villain arch that makes him threatening and scary. He’s such a beast. I actually like him a lot more than the Green Goblin although he too was great. Otto was a worthy successor in being a threatening villain for the Spider-Man. At the end, he died a hero.

“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain.”—Harvey Dent.

Octavius lived as a villain and died as a hero. Amazing...

The other characters were great and J. Jonah Jameson rocked once again as he stole every scene he was in.

Enjoy your hearty laugh for the day, folks!

The fight choreography, the CGI, the character development, the action scenes, and the story were all great, but the hero and the villain were the main highlights of this movie for me. Thus, I give it a 12/10. My favorite Spider-Man movie of ALL time and a fantastic sequel to the first movie!

Peace!

Doc Ock... Classic.

This is also my favorite Spider-Man movie of all time. Also, I can't picture anyone playing Doc Ock better than Alfred Molina.

I loved watching this movie a bunch many years ago with the DVD I had.
The PSP game based off of it was fun for me to play too.
