Slaves to Celestia - Update 1 · 11:38pm Nov 23rd, 2012
Hey folks, figured I'd start writing a type of blog to give you the occasional progress update on the story.
I have been posting what few updates I've had so far in the comments section and well, I don't really want to end up spamming it on my own (because it is kinda sad to have half the comments of the largely unknown epic I am writing being just mine) and I sometimes have things to share regarding it to let people know that I am not dead and that progress is still being made.
So what is there to tell right now?
Well, Chapter 4 is coming along nicely, even though progress on it is going slower than expected.
I've been busy with school and a variety of games as of lately so progress has been... sporadic at best, still I have done some work on it and I expect it to be released sometime this next week, probably, maybe, I don't know, honestly.
Chapter 4 is going to be somewhat shorter than the previous chapters, but not by much, this is in part compensated by the next chapter being significantly longer (what I have written is so long in fact that I've had to split it up between Chapter 4 and Chapter 6 since it's currently in it's uncut glory a whooping 37k words, and honestly I don't quite feel like going through that much just as much as I think readers wont be wanting to read that long of a chapter, I mean, the longer Fallout Equestria chapters had me constantly thinking "god damnit, why wont this chapter ever end?" towards the end so it is something I put a lot of consideration behind, a 13k-25k range is optimal I believe).
Now I am not so sure about a definite ETA on Chapter 5, I don't really know if I'll make it by Christmas the way things are right now, but again, maybe?
A neat little spoiler I can share about it is that it's going to have robots, cyborgs, if we need to be all technical about it, so that's going to be pretty interesting I think.
In other news, worked on a few concepts for future mid-late series chapters, I'm thinking that the series doesn't *have* to end once Sweet Heaven's mission is completed, the continent is vast and hides many secrets, I have something in mind with the humans and the scattered ruins going on that don't really fit in the early storyline (since there wont be much interaction going on between SH and the humans aside from combat and death up til a certain unspecified point, heh), I got a whole interesting chapter concept involving a radio that should give some insight on what is going on in Equestria mid-late series after Sweet Heaven's has been gone from it for so long.
Oh and I reread Sweet Apple Massacre among a few grim fics for some, shall we say, "inspiration" for future combat scenes and violent encounters.
Okay, I promise that there wont be any force feeding of tongues and vomit or filly rape going on, but there will be a few grisly things going on here and there, just saying.
A last thing to mention is that I've noticed that things have been going rather slow in terms of people actually finding and reading the series, I usually end up getting a couple of likes, favorites and a dislike or two with every story update and a handful of reads while other new stories end up getting hundreds of likes and reads right away.
It gives me a good chuckle when I bring my 78k story with just under a hundred reads and then look at a short, recently released, 3k story with over three thousand views, it really gets me going.
But this, I assume, is due to me being largely unknown on fimfic, many of the users who post those stories often have a whole boatload of other stories going on, so it makes sense.
This being said I am considering on writing a few shorter unrelated stories by the side of this for fun and extra publicity, but I am a bit on the edge about that since it will slow progress on Slaves to Celestia even further, I haven't really decided yet.
Still, it's a pretty big possibility and I have an idea for a shorter series brooding already.
Not to worry though, I'll still try and give this my time for as long as I have time, even with the end of school and the "quest" of finding a job (easier said than done in Sweden) and a shitty little one-room apartment to call "home" coming up 2013-2015.
That's pretty much all I have to share at the moment, this isn't something I am planning on making a frequent habit of and all my blog posts wont be as long (I hope! Blogs are boring as hell!).
So, uh, have a good one and a late merry thanksgiving or whatever it is people are celebrating right now.
