Oh boy... let’s see if people will take this well. Hehehehehe...

Hey, guys! Here is my review of Suicide Squad. Yes, the very movie a lot of fans and probably the general audience hates or dislikes. The movie which, according to most people, is ten times worse than Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Well, let me be upfront and honest with you all. The truth is... (lays my glasses down and clears throat)... I like this movie.

What?! How on earth can you like this trash heap?! :flutterrage:

Hey, hey, relax. Everyone has different tastes and different likes and dislikes. I actually found this movie much more tolerable than Zach Snyder’s Superman/Justice League trilogy. It was filled with moments that were surprisingly well-done and full of character development. I can clearly see why many people despise this film. I will acknowledge that this film has a glaring number of flaws which I will address a few. However, I will also bring to light the things that really worked well and what I enjoyed. So here they are:

PROS:

Deadshot:

Will Smith is one of my favorite actors of all time. I have a thing for his hilarious and phenomenal acting style. His character was well developed and awesome. You can actually see his motivations in doing the horrible things he did and seeing him trying to do everything he can to make his daughter happy. He actually reminds me of Sandman from Spider-Man 3 where he had to follow extreme and illegal measures to save his daughter’s life. Except, of course, Deadshot is more deadly and cold in his job as an assassin. Still, he is my favorite character in this film. Seeing him as the main character is very rare in the Batman universe. I really want to see more films of him as the main character in the future.

2). Harley Quinn:

Harley Quinn was actually adorable in this film. Her personality and manners were just... so... her! She was being herself in so many ways. Also, her interactions with the other antiheroes were great, hilarious, and fun. Lastly, her romantic relationship with that... you know who... was sweet and twisted. The problem I have though is that their love relationship is supposed to be complex—mixing The Joker’s abuse with his deceptions—adding those important elements is what made their relationship so iconic in Batman: The Animated Series. This lacks those elements which makes it so... unappealing. STILL, it’s good and important to have a healthy relationship, right?

3). Diablo:

I LOVE this guy! Diablo was one of the most relatable characters I’ve ever seen in a live-action movie! Seeing him as this pessimistic, unenthusiastic, and hopeless criminal trying to cope with life while being fueled by anger that causes his fire powers to rise was absolutely amazing. I mean, seriously, he’s like half Batman and half Hulk to me. His selfless sacrifice at the end was saddening and touching. The writers did a good job with his character. I want to see more of him.

4). Killer Croc:

My, my, my this dude is a badass. Honestly, my favorite version of Killer Croc is the one from the 2004 show called The Batman. He had so much personality and intelligence there. Here, he was really good. His personality was top-notch as well as his demeanor, fighting style, and design. Well, it’s not the best design, but it still looks good.

5). Boomerang:

I’ll be honest with you guys... this baddie was hilarious! I loved his sense of humor and the jokes he said. He was the comedy relief that lightened the mood of the film and made it so that we wouldn’t see these characters as bland, boring, or overall depressing to watch. I like his personality a lot. He’s almost like a villain version of the Flash but better—much better than the actual Flash in the Justice League film.

As for the plot of this film, it was very entertaining and quite simple to follow. We see these guys being called to stop an evil and dangerous threat in the city with the help and supervision of the military. Although the villains—especially Deadshot—were mocking the very idea of actually saving lives and helping people at first (considering their history as criminals), they eventually gave in and soon bonded with the head soldier named Flag. He and Amanda Waller were pretty good as well. I actually like this Waller a little more than some other versions. Also, I find it hilarious to see the military not take the spotlight from the action. The antiheroes are the ones taking the big screen in fighting those monsters whereas the troopers are just simply helping in the background. Why couldn't Bayverse Transformers do the same thing? Oh right, because of Michael Bay. I love the military, but that’s not how it works, Bay.

Anyway, The action scenes were terrific, and the dialogue and acting were great as well. The soundtrack was... okay at best. Not really memorable but not terrible either. The CGI was just average as well. Now, with the cons...

CONS:

1). This guy...

“(Dramatically claps hands) I’m an idea! State of mind!”

Hey, remember when Christopher Nolan nailed The Joker by giving him an original take on him especially in SHOWING how he is an idea and state of mind? Well, scrap that crap! Because we need to TELL the audience that he is an idea and state of mind instead of showing it. Not sorry to say that this dude is a joke, not a joker. Hey, you hear that? That’s the sound of Heath Ledger rolling in his grave. I’m dead serious when I say this is the worst version of Joker I have ever EVER seen. Thankfully, he is not the main focus of this film. No offense to Jared Leto since he did his absolute best in at least trying to make Joker good, but his character is not the definitive type. Enough said.

2). Katana:

It would’ve been better if she was completely silent in this film. I want to see characters that are silent but deadly while very useful and competent. She was close to that benchmark, but she just felt... bland and uninteresting. I don’t like her that much.

Lastly, the actual villains/antagonists: they were poorly written and very dull. Fine, give them type of good motivation, but you have to give them personality, empathy, and depth of character development. They lack all of the above and had little screen time. Of course, the villainess herself dies in the most ridiculous way possible. Which reminds me of some other villain... oh yes... him... but I’ll save that in my next review.

In conclusion, this movie was actually good and enjoyable to watch. Thus, I approve it with the score of 7/10.

How dare you! This movie is terrible! Why give it such a high score?! 😡

It is my opinion, and that is how I feel about it. Thank you very much. Feel free to crucify me for liking this movie.

Peace... or not.

I liked the movie though we can all agree that Jared letto made a bad attempt as the joker by acting more of a crazed crime boss than a being of chaos.

I did love the actress that played as harley though

From what I read and such and clips, I feel pretty meh/fine with the movie I suppose.
Balancing some good and some flaws I think.

5306197
That’s good. Goes to show not everyone hates it

5306174
Yeah at least the actor from joker made a better attempt

Personally, I think it's better than it's better than Harley's movie. Objects?

5306222
Are you referring to Birds of Prey? If so, I hate that film. I couldn’t get past 10 minutes thereof.

5306225
I read how awful Birds of Prey was. Tried to stop my mom from seeing it.

5306234
Again, you are blessed. She should be proud of you.

5306236
Thanks. Also, I added something on the recent Item Bio you might want to add to your character Bio.

I think they romanticized it, which is my main problem with the movie. I haven´t watched Batman the series, but I did watch the bit where Joker slaps Harley and throws her out of the window. In this movie, it seems like they are the ultimate couple! That´s kinda problematic, if you ask me. Please don´t kill me :twilightblush:

The rest of the film was ok. I don´t hate it nor love it.

5306213
Yeah I also heard that letto got mad for not being in the stand alone joker movie

You ever gonna review the 2019 Joker?

5306260
Really? He actually loved his role?

5306256
Glad you watched it.

I definitely agree with you on their relationship.

5306431
Unfortunately, I watched Homecoming all the way through. At least it was my first time watching it. So... yeah.

5306354
For some reason yeah and that they began to work on the joker movie without telling him
.

5306489
Yeah but I don't care but still what were they thinking by letting that joker in the movie

5306431
Do you think Far From Home is better or...

If it makes you feel better, I like the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Every film. Even The Last Jedi. So when the review comes out, expect a high score.

5306562
That was very random to say, but whatever.
However, I’m not a Star Wars fan. So, I really don’t care about the franchise at all... except for the memes.

5306571
Because you like the movie even though it’s mostly disliked :P.

5306574
Oh, that’s why you made the comparison? Because it’s the same thing with The Last Jedi?

5306578
It feels like so many dislike it. Though to be fair, Rotten Tomatoes critics liked it. Though I’m speaking for fans.

5306581
Some people say to never trust Rotten Tomatoes and that it’s an unreliable source of information. Do you believe that?

5306583
I sometimes see bad reviews on good movies. Like Venom. I loved it, and I don’t think it deserved the score.

Since you review marvel movies, if you ever go out of the MCU, I suggest this movie.

5306587
Uh-huh.
Venom will definitely be on my movie review list as well as the Spider-Man films.

5306590
Good to hear. Don’t forget the post-credits (or mid-credits) scene in that one and the others... though I have a feeling you won’t.

5306591
Of course I won’t. You won’t be disappointed :raritywink:
