My Thoughts: Is Blackjack a Hero? · 2:28am May 18th, 2020
This blog post is going to be covering the subject of Blackjack from Project Horizons, and the question of whether or not she can be considered a hero. I have already given my thoughts multiple times on Blackjack and Project Horizons in previous blog posts, so you may want to read those before going into this one. With all that said, let's begin.
The question of Blackjack being a hero comes from the fact that, in most stories that take place after Project Horizons, everypony is split on whether Blackjack is a hero or a villain, with the primary example being, "Fallout Equestria: Book of Blackjack." Now, I personally have voiced my disdain for the character of Blackjack numerous times, but after seeing this scenario, I can't help but ask myself: is Blackjack a hero? And, despite my feelings, I do believe that she is a hero.
Here's why.
Throughout the entire story, she tries her best to not kill anyone needlessly, quoting, "I'm not an executioner"(which, side note, is a nice ideal, but feels more like a way to flaunt a higher moral ground in this case.) She constantly implores everyone to 'do better.' These and multiple other actions makes me believe that, yes, she is a hero. However, while she is a hero, she is nowhere near a good pony.
(I don't think I need to explain why if you've read the story. Sexual deviant and mass murderer, much?)
And you can probably see where I'm going with this. She is a hero, but that doesn't automatically mean she has a heart of gold. Make of that what you will.
(Sorry if this seems brief, for some reason I thought this would be much longer, but I just wanted to be finished with it after a few hours of just thinking about what to say. ADD, amiright?)
