Top 5 things Twilight has tried · 3:54am May 9th, 2020
If you have no idea what that title means, that’s what I was going for. Allow me to explain.
I’ve touched a lot of ThePinkedWonder’s stories because he’s a really good friend. But he’s not the only good friend I’ve got. So that being said, I feel it’s time to give my other friend, Peni Parker (who’s name autocorrect hates when I type it) some recognition as well.
Peni has two major hit stories that I’ll be touching on: Twilight Tries and No Longer Living In A Van Down By The River, the former of which was featured, and the latter of which is coming to a close.
Instead of ranking all of Peni’s stories, I’m simply going through these two and choosing my five favorite chapters from both.
Since the site seems to like Twilight Tries a lot, I'll start with that.
My criteria are literally just how much I like the topic and chapter itself.

Coming in at number five will be Social Distancing
Here, Twilight is giving us a look into what it’s like for ponies to have to quarantine themselves, including reading, stashing toilet paper (seriously, what is the deal with that?) and being with those you love (or just who you’re stuck with).
While I don’t really enjoy the chapter itself, the ending message is more than enough to earn a spot on this list.
It’s important to remember that COVID-19 will pass, and until then, we need to keep hope that we will make it through this. Peni really conveys this message well, which is why it’s my number five.

Coming in at number four is Bungee Jumping.
Here, Twilight lets loose and does something she’s apparently wanted to do since she was a filly. Peni does a nice job describing the pre-jump butterflies and just what it’s like to bungee jump without actually being there.

At number three, Twilight’s Solving a Rubik’s Cube
This was a dare from Starlight, who has had terrible luck with trying to do the same. This story makes the list because not only does Peni do a pretty good job communicating how absolutely frustrating it is to try and solve one of those things, but it also gives me a bit of nostalgia. See, I have a friend who can do this weird trick where he just keeps the cube moving until he gets a favorable pattern and solves it from there.
To this day, I don’t know how he did that.

Taking the silver for this story, we have Twilight Watching The Star Wars Special which is apparently terrible.
Twilight’s generally a nice pony, so it’s a little strange to see her criticizing something. What wins me over here is how real her opinions feel to the special, from geeking out over the classics Star Wars theme, to complaining over the issues of the short.

But taking the number one spot is the chapter where Twilight tries Speed Dating
For all of you Twilight shippers, this one’s for you. Apparently, Twilight’s never had much luck with the opposite gender, so she goes to a speed dating event where she meets a few... interesting characters. We’ve got a conspiracy theorist who thinks the Canterlot Invasion was an inside job, a Twilight Sparkle mega-fan, a pony more in love with himself (or more accurately, his muscles) than anything, and Sunburst, whose mom is also present
This takes number one because the seemingly simply done comedy really works, and apparently, two of the ponies Twilight meets actually happened on first dates for Peni.
Well, those are my favorite chapter of Twilight Tries. I’ll be looking at my five favorite chapters of No Longer Living In A Van Down By The River another time, so for now, be good people.
