Top 10 Worst Nu Metal Songs of the 2000s according to Google Bard

A few months ago, I asked Bardy for the ten best and worst pop punk songs that came out in the 2000s, and got some very... interesting results to say the least (I still haven't gotten over Bardy mistaking a Beatles song for a Used song). So today, I'm gonna do the same thing, but with a different very popular sub-genre of the 2000s, nu metal. The query I gave Bardy is as follows: What are the top

The Top 10 Worst Pop Punk songs of the 2000's, according to Google Bard

For those that don't know, Google Bard, or Bardy as I'll be referring to it, is an AI unit that you can give queries to, and it'll search the internet for comments, wiki articles, and other major sources of information to give the best information as a response. So I decided to ask Bardy for the ten worst pop punk songs from the 2000s. This gave... interesting results. The query I gave it was:

EP Review - Sonic Frontiers OST (vocal songs only)

Hey everyone. In case you couldn’t tell by the title, I’m doing things a bit differently today. A little over two weeks ago, a game called Sonic Frontiers came out. You’ve probably heard of it. This blog is gonna reflect absolutely none of the gameplay or story for that game, but I’m gonna go ahead and say potential spoilers may be ahead.

The Top 10 Best Pop Punk songs of the 2000's, according to Google Bard · 7:56pm Jun 15th, 2023

Last time, I asked Bardy to find me the ten worst pop punk songs of the 2000's and got some... interesting results. Well today, I'm doing the opposite and asking Bardy for the ten best pop punk songs of the 2000's. My exact query was as follows:

What are the top ten best pop punk songs from the 2000's? Give reasoning to support your answers

Bardy gave me the following response as a result:

This is just a small sample of the great pop punk songs that came out in the 2000's. There are so many more that could have been included on this list. If you're a fan of pop punk, then I highly recommend checking out these songs

Who knows, maybe Bardy will actually get this one right. For whatever reason, he also decided to number this list.

#10
A Day In The Life
The Used

This song is a great example of the emo pop punk sound that The Used helped to popularize. It's catchy, emotional, and a great song to scream along to

I don't know how the hell Bardy came up with this one. Not only is The Used a weird pick for a list like this, but this isn't even their song. It's a Beatles song released in 1967. I can't even comment on this one because it's so far off.

#9
Still Fly
Sugarcult

This song is a great example of the pop punk sound that Sugarcult helped to popularize. It's catchy, fun, and a great song to sing along to.

This is not a good sign. Just like before, Sugarcult does not have a song called "Still Fly." The closest I could find was a cover done by Devil Wears Prada. If Bardy really did mean to put Sugarcult on this list, then I imagine he meant to put their song "Memory," which I think is an underrated song. I'd have no problem with being on this list. But still, Bardy is 0 for 2

#8
Misery Business
Paramore

This song is a great example of the early Paramore sound. It's catchy, powerful, and a great anthem for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider

Spoiler alert, this is not the only time a song that was on Bardy's worst list also appears here. I have absolutely nothing against putting "Misery Business" on this list. I think it's great, and it cemented Paramore as a big name in pop punk, even during the sub-genre's decline

#7
The Middle
Jimmy Eat World

This song is a great example of the alternative pop punk sound that Jimmy Eat World helped to popularize. It's catchy, emotional, and has a great message

Another solid pick. This was the song that shot Jimmy Eat World up the charts, and its message does really hold up. It's a shame that not as many people talk about Jimmy Eat World

#6
Dear Maria, Count Me In
All Time Low

This song is a great example of the pop punk sound that All Time Low helped to popularize. It's catchy, emotional, and relatable

I like this song, and All Time Low, but this song is not better than "Misery Business" or "The Middle." I don't necessarily disagree with its presence on this list, but I definitely question the placement

#5
I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Panic! At The Disco

This song is a great example of the theatrical pop punk sound that Panic! at the Disco brought to the scene. It's catchy, unique, and a lot of fun

I've already talked about how I'm not a huge Panic! fan, although I do enjoy this song. But still, it's another song from Bardy's worst list that also made his best list. Really goes to show how far AI like this has still yet to come

#4
Dance, Dance
Fall Out Boy

This song is another Fall Out Boy classic that is sure to get everyone moving. It's upbeat, catchy, and has a great message

Not sure about the great message bit, but I do still think this is one of Fall Out Boy's best early songs. No complaints from me

#3
Sugar, We're Going Down
Fall Out Boy

This song is a perfect example of the emo pop punk sound that was popular in the early 2000's. It's catchy, emotional, and fun

Nice catch by Bardy, as this is the song that really began to blur the lines between pop punk and emo. I will admit that I've probably heard this song more times than I wished, but I can't deny that it is catchy. A little strange that a song like "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" didn't make this list though

#2
What's My Age Again?
blink-182

Another classic Blink-182 song that perfectly captures the teenage angst of the 2000's

I still wouldn't call this song angsty, but I do agree that it still holds up really well. It's short and to the point, it's self-aware, and it is really catchy. It's the perfect song to encapsulate just what blink-182 is all about

#1
All The Small Things
blink-182

This song is a classic pop punk anthem that everyone knows and loves. It's catchy, upbeat, and relatable

I can't say this song is relatable, since it's not really about anything. Still though, I have no problem with this song being considered the number one pop punk song of the 2000s

While Bardy did choose better picks here than the worst list, his mistakes stand out a lot more, especially when he gets songs and artists mixed up. Aside from that though, I mostly agree with this list. It is a little weird that not a single Green Day or Sum 41 song made it onto this list though. But once again, take this list with a grain of salt. Bardy has a real long way to go before being able to be taken seriously

Seriously?! Sugar, We're Going Down and Dance, Dance but no This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race?! This is just proof that AI still has a long way to go.
