So, I got into Yale Today.

    It's resplendent!

I haven't given up writing, just having difficulties finding a computer to do the writing on. The Business is coming back (yay!) but the Things are stuck at home due to the smoke from the wildfires (Boo!)

    Blargh.

There are few things worse than waking up two hours before your alarm is set to go off and not being able to get back to sleep.

Especially if you know you didn't get enough sleep to begin with.

Happy Wednesday, folks. Let's make it happen.

Long Way Round story notes & updates

And thus begins a new story, featuring everyone's favorite royal whipping boy, Blueblood.

I get that it's originally a kids TV show, but I feel like there's more room for a...nuanced take on the guy.

Stay tuned and we'll see how he does!

No Reservations Chapter 8: Story Notes & musings

When I began writing No Reservations, I set out to basically answer two questions: "What would my ideal HiE fic look like?" and "If humans from our reality could make it to Equestria, certainly entities from other realities could wind up there too, right?"

And thus ends the first arc. I'll be writing more episodes, time permitting.

In honor of Memorial Day, Snaproll's guide to common tools & why the ground near him is Angery

As I've alluded to in a few recent blog posts, I've started working for a large hardware store chain, and as such lots of some a few maybe one of you has asked if I can have a recent rundown on how to use several common and useful tools.

Sitrep, Worldbuilding, and the Most Absurd Vehicle Known To Mankind · 3:45am May 6th, 2020

So, still working at Residence Station for the forseeable future. But in fun news, I've gotten checked out on arguably the most absurd vehicle known to mankind.

Ladies and Gentlemen...The Ballymore

Basically, at it's core, it's a mobile electric ladder. Or, if you'd rather, it's a forklift that instead lifts you up, rather than whatever you're trying to get. What makes it handy is that, out of all the vehicles Residence Depot employs, this one alone does not require a spotter. Nor does it require you to close off the aisle adjacent to where you're working.

The downside of it is that it's only slightly faster than the Speed of Smell. But, in and of itself it is an object lesson in one of my simple truths: Just because you're absurd does not also preclude you from being useful.

That said, in my copious amounts of time at work, it occurred to me that there's a bit of worldbuilding to be done here. How would a store like Residence Depot look in Equestria? Would you have specialized tools for Unicorns & Pegasi to use to lift things off high shelves? Certainly. But then again, how would technology (for lack of a better term) develop? Given Earth Pony ingenuity (or, in Pinkie's case, Insanity) pay dividends somehow?

I can only imagine. There might be a short based off these musings to come soon.

Hope everyone's keeping safe, fit, and healthy.
It'll be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end.
