    The New Plan for 2024

    Hey, all!

So, Royal Equestria Cavalry will be wrapping up in April, with just ~4 chapters left to go (and maybe an epilogue, we'll see).

Next up, thanks to some recent rebinging of a certain sci-fi classic, is going to be:

    Roadmap Update

Whew! Well, Cyberpony: 1077 ran a little overlong thanks to me sucking at sticking to the chapter layouts and pacing I start out with. It's certainly a chronic issue I have :( (side-eye's Legacies :trixieshiftright:) But, it is concluded, and so now we shall move on to the next story on the docket: Royal Equestrian Cavalry: Blood and Honor.

    Milestones

Tomorrow marks 9 years and almost 2 million words for me on FimFiction!

    Wow...

That's, like, 2 Harry Potter series worth of writing on this site. If I'd invested that time writing "real" stories, I might have become a world-famous author by now!

Meh. Who needs that kind of pressure in their life?

Back to torturing tiny technicolor horses for my and your amusement!

So, The Lost Empire will be wrapping up next month, which means that a new story will be started in its place.

The trouble is, I'm having a hard time deciding which of the three currently in-production stories I should focus on. At the moment i'm bouncing between them and if I keep that up for the next month I risk falling behind in whichever one I ultimately decide on. Covid-19 has given me a LOT more time to write, and I want to see how long I can keep doing biweekly updates.

So i'm going to put it to whoever it is that actually cares enough about my writing to stop by here regularly :P

In no particular order, here are the stories currently in production:

A) Another Fallout Equestria story that is a sequel to Institutionalized, but will be much longer. I don't think it'll be the doorstopper that Legacies is, but it'll likely pass 500k words pretty easily. I like the characters it'll be featuring and I'm looking forward to tackling the whole "what measure of a non-pony" thing regarding AI. So, join Diode as he ventures to the Baltimare Crater in his quest to find a way to save the only friend he ever had! Along the way he'll meet a Twilight Society researcher and her Talon Company bodyguard, and a stoner donkey and his mute kirin best bud. Surely such a group can handle whatever Baltimare can throw at them, right?

B) BattleTech/Mechwarrior doesn't get NEARLY enough love on FimFiction. So I've got a story that'll look to mitigate that a bit. Bring your reactor online with a mercenary company of BattleSteed pilots as they uncover a plot that could threaten not just their profit margins, but the whole Harmony Sphere! Nothing says "saviors of the galaxy" like a lecherous earth pony with a dark secret, his not quite estranged ex-wife boss, a quirky mare with an unhealthy attachment to electronics, and some crazy purple mare who claims to be the ruler of ponykind. Right? Totally legit hero material. Likely to be a long one as I'll have a LOT of opportunity for world-building in what'll be (for me) a "fresh" crossover in a pony-fied BattleTech universe.

C) Something a little less fantastical than Wasteland survival or piloting 100-ton robots. A more contemporary story set in show-era Equestria where a small company of Royal Cavalry soldiers go on what was supposed to be a simple goodwill mission to one of Equestria's neighbors...only to find themselves being used as pawns in a scheme meant to take the Princedom to war. Can our maligned heroes avert catastrophe, or will the plotters get their wish? This will be a comparatively shorter story; maybe only 100k-200k.

Like I said: these are all stories that have a few chapters written to start them off and I've at least roughed out the key plot points, so they're all ready to go into full production. I just need to stop ping-ponging between them and FOCUS so I can get one of them in the chamber for when The Lost Empire wraps up.

Please help me do that by letting me know which of those stories you guys would rather read next. Feel free to rank them by interest too, as all of them will eventually get written at some point.

Note: these aren't the ONLY stories that I will ever write after this point (Ponies of a Chaos' Dawn is part of a dang tetralogy, assuming I ever manage to reconcile some plot holes...), but they are the ones that actually have chapters ready to be posted at the moment.

... Oh. My. God!

As a die-hard fan of anything Fallout: Equestria related, it absolutely pains me to say this, but I am a lot more interested in seeing this Battletech/Mechwarrior story. The synopsis alone had me chuckling quite a lot, so I can only imagine the amount of fun reading (and also probably writing ;) ) it will be!
I am also really happy to see that Institutionalised'll get the sequel it deserves. I mean, the last fight was so badass and the self-sacrifice so heart-wrenching, I am super happy to see ol'Diode here back on the road, ready to fry more unsuspecting mares with EMP mines. xD
For the last story, I have no particular feelings towards. Politics in FiM fanfictions have always felt waaayyy too real, too lifelike for my tastes. Makes me remember that we live in a world where somevpoliticians really try to start wars and make people miserable. However, I am intrigued by the ideas you presented, and it'll be a blast to see how you might spin them.

TL;DR : In my humble opinion, I'd say 2 - > 1 - > 3. However, should a stray mood fall upon you and you get inspired to write any of those stories first, then please, don't let me stop you. I would be happy to read any of these. Thank you!

Also, I hope that you and your family be safe in these trying times. Covid-19 is no joke, and too many people have already died. I'd put here a joke about being disappointed if you died because of the unfinished stories, but even I can see what a horrible and disgusting thing that would be to say. So, uhm, yeah, stay safe!

PS: Also, one thing I always forget to tell you:

(Ponies of a Chaotic Dawn is part...)

I don't know if you noticed, but the title of the story on FiMfic says "Ponies of Choas' Dawn". I normally don't like to point out typos, but c'mon man, it's the title! XD
(Unless it was on purpose? Pls don't hit meee...)

Thank you. Wrote this on my phone and missed that little auto-correct :/
