Picard Season 1 Episode 7 Review · 5:49pm Mar 6th, 2020
"Hello Will."
Yeah, I think this is the one we've all been waiting for right? The one with Will Riker and Deanna Troi. And it is everything you expect it to be. It's honestly a beautiful episode. Not to say it's all about Picard reuniting with Number One and his ship's counselor. There's a few other things going on, and one honest thing I like is Raffi starting to be less of a bitch. She's a broken woman, yes, but that doesn't excuse half of the stuff she's been up to plotwise. And I will be honest, as with the whole Bruce Maddox cameo, Raffi meeting her child went nowhere and was resolved too fast to really add much to her character.
Thankfully, here in this episode, she does get a really good moment with Agnes of all people. Bit cheesy, a bit corny maybe but it's still sorta sweet. Speaking of sweet, the Riker and Troi daughter. Now her name escapes me for the moment, but she does form an honest and really rather adorable friendship with Soji. Hell, this whole episode, for the most part, was mainly a feels trip. Not to say it doesn't get some teeth though, as Riker and Deanna both show why Picard picked them for his ship. He only picks the best. They both lecture him at one point or another. Much needed lectures actually, to really cut into his arrogance. Also, Will makes pizza. Yes, seriously. I kid you not.
