Beneath These Fabrics (Teaser) · 12:42am Nov 25th, 2019
"Can't y'all reschedule this thing, Rares? Feels like you're goin' outta' town all the time." Applejack frowned as she watched her wife carry a bag to the door, it was suspiciously under packed for Rarity, but Applejack had assumed that the woman had learned a thing or two from her when it came to traveling light.
Rarity smiled at her and turned to kiss the blonde's forehead. "Darling, you know I can't reschedule these things. These upper-class types don't like to work around any schedule but their own, you know that."
Applejack crossed her arms and huffed as she looked away in annoyance. She knew it was true, but she wished it weren't.
Stepping back to the pouting woman, Rarity reached forward and brushed Applejack's cheek with the back of her hand. "Darling, the money I bring in from these trips is how I contribute to this household. I can't allow you to do everything, or you'll drop dead on me. You work too hard, and I have to do my part."
Placing a hand atop of her wife's Applejack shook her head in disapproval. "Yeah, but every month y'all go away for a few days. Y'all do plenty around here, Rarity."
Giggling, Rarity took her hand back but not before patting the farmer's cheek. "Sweetie, I'm going to come back, I always do."
"Ever since y'all rescued my parents from that mountain, 'Ah guess that 'Ah worry that y'all think you're invincible. Guess that's kinda' dumb." Applejack stuffed her handed into her jean pockets and shuffled her foot awkwardly as she admitted her concern. It was true too, she was scared to death that Rarity wouldn't come home that night, and was in for a bigger scare when the woman came back with the injury she did. The doctors said she should have died from it, but not only did she survive, but she healed far faster than they had anticipated.
Rarity grinned at her wife. "Applejack, I promise, I'm always going to keep coming back. There's nowhere else I'd rather be."
Applejack's wife always knew how to get past her barriers and ease Applejack's mind even if she was often the source of Applejack's concern. "Y'all always know just what to say, don'tcha'?"
"One of my many talents." Rarity giggled.
Applejack stepped forward to kiss her goodbye, but Rarity noted the clock behind her. It was getting late, and she had to leave quickly. "I have to get going, darling. I'll see you in a few days!"
Rarity raced out the door and into her car. Applejack was left standing there with a sad expression upon her face. "Yeah... See ya..."

Checking the clock over and over, Rarity sighed as she realized she had just made it in time to her destination. Parking her car, she threw her head back and let out a long exhale. She had cut it too close this time and she knew it. Even a minute longer and she might not have made it on time. She had to remind herself why she did this every month, and why it was important she never missed her window.
She hated lying to her wife, especially since Applejack was honest to a fault, but she couldn't tell her the truth of where she was going. She had to take this secret to the grave.
She leaned up and looked out her windshield to the forest before her. She had parked far into the woodland to ensure her car would not be seen while she was away. Stepping out, she shut the door behind her and opened the trunk where she retrieved her bag. Her regular provisions were all there, a change of clothes, a blanket, and a revolver she had begun to carry ever since the Adagio incident. Applejack hated guns, but Rarity knew that it could be the difference between life and death if something should happen.
The bag itself was weatherproof, which meant she wouldn't have to concern herself with it when she was off taking care of business.
Shutting the truck with the bag in tow, Rarity locked the car and began to walk deeper into the woods, smelling the fresh pine scent on that cool spring night.
Reaching to brush a stray lock of hair, her nose caught a whiff of a familiar scent; Applejack's. It was her hand, she could still smell her wife on her fingertips where she had touched her. The smell of sweat and her body spray lingered so wonderfully. She took in the scent before continuing her journey.
Dropping her bag into an old wooden box that had been kept out in the woods when a park used to be there, Rarity looked off in the distance to see a figure standing in the shadows, waiting for her.
She came forward and observed him in the moonlight. "You're late," he said.
Rarity shrugged. "I guess I didn't really want to be here."
His eyes studied her carefully. "What bullshit excuse did you give the family this time?"
"Same as always, meetings with people high-up in the fashion industry," Rarity responded plainly.
He nodded and grinned at her. "How long will you be able to milk that lie, Rarity? When are you going to realize that your place is here with me."
She looked away in disgust. "Let's just get this over with."
Nodding the male removed his shirt and tossed it aside haphazardly. His exposed chest taut and muscular. He gestured for her to follow as he began to walk deeper into the woods. She sighed and began to follow him as she thought to herself.
How much longer can I keep this going? Forever, if I have to. I'm sorry Applejack, but you can't ever know the truth...
Coming soon...
