    Worry

The story is going to be on a hiatus for a few months.
The next chapter is finished, but I won't upload it for now. I want to write ahead so in case I change some details, I'd be able to do it without a problem.
    I'm working on it.

    Don't worry!

In case anyone is worried, I'm still working on the fanfic!
I finished the next chapter some time ago, but my friend, who also does the editing, is busy with the exams so he can't work on it right now.
The chapter after that is doing good, so I hope to finish it fast after the 23th is released.

    Age of Decay future

    Hello, everyone.
I know it's been some time since the last update, but have no fear - I'm still alive.
I had some trouble with writing these last months, but I'm getting over it finally.

    Apologies

Sorry for a bit of a delay.
I'm really stuck on one scene there and I'm trying to write it in a good way.
While I'm doing that, I'm almost finished with the next chapter. So I'll probably upload them both since the wait was too long already.
    Sorry.

    Update 3.10.20

    Hello, everyone!
I just wanted to give a quick update to remind you that I'm still alive and writing.
The next chapter is coming this week after I'm done with editing and I'm already working on the next. Sorry for the long wait, I was just having some troubles writing lately.

A crisis · 3:35pm Oct 28th, 2019

I'm having a bit of a writing crisis. I see so many flaws in my writing that it harms my desire to write. I try to fix them as I see them, but I don't know for sure if I'm succeeding.
What do you think are my most serious mistakes?

Lack of confidence.

Look at the vote ratios on your story. Forty up to three down. Forty up to three hundred views. Those ratios are good. You're obviously doing several things right.

Continue working on the problems you perceive, but don't stress so much about them.

People are too lenient to fanfics

They're really not. At least not readership. When you buy a book, the sunk cost fallacy is more pronounced than for fanfiction. Folks will try harder to enjoy it because of the cost.

With FimFiction, the only sunk cost you have is the time you've already invested in reading. Folks can be much more free to abandon a story. At the same time, they can be much more open to trying a story because the barrier to entry is so low.

If you're referring to critics specifically, the story is a bit different.

I see. I will try be more relax about that. Thank you.

Still, despite all my work, I don't have a lot of readers or comments. It's not making me stop writing, of course, but it's discouraging.

With Age of a Decay, I think you have a limited audience to begin with. M+sex stories do not track well.

12 sex-tagged stories in 2018 passed 10k views without the porn tag. Compare to 59 with the porn tag. There were about the same number of each type of story written.

If your goal is to get a lot of eyeballs in a story, you can game the system with the right tags, rating, cover art, length, description, and title. Publish it at the right time and you'll get the feature box; your prose is good enough that I'm sure you can do it. But... do you want to? Why really are you publishing on FimFiction? Is it just to get eyeballs and thumbs? Or are you writing stories that interest you and trying to find the audience who will enjoy them with you?

I suspect you could boost your viewership a bit. Is Sunday a good day to post? I tend to have better success at certain times on weekdays than weekends. Can you naturally fit in some content that matches more popular or niche groups? I found that posting multiple stories on successive days helped me stay in the sandbox and popular column, as new readers would occasionally check out another thing or two I'd published. Dropping a couple 1-2k one-shots each week to support Age could bring in extra views.

Compare Age to other long, mature sex adventures published this year. It's in the middle third for both views and likes. Those stories are your competition. The top third are human/anthro. That's what's popular now for some reason. Exclude human/anthro-tagged stories and... You're third in like and views. Yikes. I guess there's not much more views to squeeze out.

Sorry for not answering sooner.
Your words make a lot of sense and they made me feel better.
Thank you.
