I don't blog on here but I felt compelled to post this up for anyone who actually is reading.
I felt that one of the weakest parts of the two-part finale was Discord. He lied all season and caused the return of three major villains. His actions directly contributed to Twilight's crisis of faith. He gets off with essentially a scolding. It's not even *mentioned* after the Mane 6 get lose again from the dungeon.
What I thought might happen (while watching the episodes the first time), was that Discord would choose to sacrifice his Chaos magic, causing the bell and all of the magic inside to be destroyed. With this the villains return to normal and are subsequently defeated by the Mane 6. Discord is forever without his Chaos magic.
This would have been a remarkable and fantastic conclusion to the character arc that Discord has been. A final lesson in self-sacrifice, choosing your friends over yourself, and fixing the mistakes you made. I wish it had been the actual story.
