So... Now What? (Thoughts on the End of Pony)

In my story, "It's not the End", I said that February 16th, 2019 was the second saddest day for our fandom.

Someone asked me, what the first was. Well, it happened.

October 12th, 2019- The day of the Final Episode.

It is over. The show is done. Well, not including the comics which has confirmed to include this season 10 thing, but for the most part and for the show's more international audiences, Gen 4 has come to an orderly close.

Now, I watched the series finale through leaks so I knew what the ending was beforehand. I'd say for a final episode, DHX really pulled through. The finale was spectacular and tugged at the hearts of those who have been following the show for a long time, including myself (4 years and 200+ days.) The entire series has been a thrill and I did not regret joining this fandom since the day I did. I loved this show with a burning passion, more than any interest I have ever had prior.

Like many, I was skeptical of Pony at first. My first taste of the artstyle was from a pony parody of Don’t Mine At Night (Since I was a Minecraft fan.) My brother eventually got interested to check where the idea came from and soon I got into the fandom as well. And then I binged through the first four seasons in three months to catch up to the fifth.

What I did in that period of time will only be replicated once in my lifetime.

My love for this series burned bright even in times where I thought it just wasn’t doing well. It gave me so much happiness when I’m in my own dark times. It was my getaway from reality (Which is garbage.) I joined Fimfiction in late 2016, after I incorporated a fun story writing activity at school with the idea of Pony. My love only grew from there. I bought merchandise starting summer 2017, and though I’ve grown out of the age of playing with them, it served as a reminder of how much I loved Pony and I always will. I loved singing Pony songs as well since summer 2017.

This series had brought me so many new discoveries, so many new friendships, and fantastic memories over the past 4 and a half-ish years. I was able to chat with many around the world through the magic of discord (No not that discord!) and I met my best friend in real life thanks to our interest in Pony. I didn’t bother with showing who I am and I was proud of being a brony, because no one can tell me I couldn’t love this show.

So with the end of Pony, where will I go?

Well, I highly doubt that Fimfiction will stop running, actually. It could always incorporate G5 into this website’s story themes. But with my goodbye to Pony, I said hello to a brand new fandom that I have included in a few stories recently- The Pretty Cure series. It is three times as long, still continuing, and had multiple times larger fanfic material to work around with. I will be playing around with my new favourites over on another site, Quotev, under the name Honnathan, so if you are interested you are welcome to check me out there because who knows, I might have some Pony stories there before I release it here.

As for what I will do in memory of this beloved series, I am working on a fic regarding the end of Pony due for November. This is not the fic I said that is delayed- That will come later. I will also be making a Pony trivia on Quotev- Which I will update you all on when it’s finished.

Now, I have many feelings about Pony and I’m so sad it had to end so soon. But at least I got to join the ride for quite a while for it to become something that shaped my life forever. The joy it gave me- It will be succeeded by the Precure, I’m sure.

Until the next generation comes along, I am going to miss my little Twilly and her friends so, so, so much.
