My thoughts on the Series Finale · 2:20pm Oct 13th, 2019

Well, it happened. MLP has finale closed the book. 9 years; 9 chapters. Hard to believe it's been that long when it felt like it happened yesterday. I could go on with how I was introduced to the show, but I wanna talk about the Series Finale itself. What do I think of it?

....I was enjoyably disappointed with it. Weird choice of words, but I'll explain as best I can.

I enjoyed what the finale gave us. Like, Tempest Shadow showing up as a cameo towards the ending. I loved how it all became a huge Endgame. The twist that it was Discord the whole time being Grogar. Cozy Glow's nightmarish form. Pinkie Pie's brief transformation (that was funny, but she should not have that kind of power) CheesePie being canon! Plus, Momma Pinkie sounds fitting for her. lol. Love the little tidbits in the background -- most of them -- and the fact that the villain's won rather easily. I always loved those. And the humor was awesome, too. But those were the only things I enjoyed about the finale.

But, what disappointed me was how some things turned out. While I did love the twist that it was Discord the whole time, it left me thinking the reason he brought Cozy, Tirek and Chrysalis together was to secretly teach them about friendship and maybe reform them like how he was reformed -- teach what you've been taught. Maybe give them some moral to know that friendship isn't so bad. Instead, that didn't happen. Discord's intention was to help Twilight boost confidence in being a leader, and that backfired hard. I was none too pleased with that outcome. Yes, Twilight is the protagonist, but she's not an anime protagonist. Discord messed up so much.

Another thing that left me disappointed was how the villains went out. I'll admit, I was wanting to see villains stay villains, but after a lot of thinking, I decided it was not meant to be. I wanted to see Chrysalis amend with her old changeling hive. I wanted to see Tirek amend with his brother (who we never got to see, by the way) and I wanted to see Cozy make friends the right way instead of using manipulation. But, instead, we get to see them get the Discord treatment by having them turned to stone. I was left speechless. Why?! This was the series finale?! Ya'll could've reformed them and made it more emotional! But no, you had to Endgame it. It's called Friendship is Magic, not Friendship is Endgame. Yes, it was awesome to see everyone play a part, but they could've done what Twilight did with Sunset. Overall, fun action, not so fun outcome.

The final episode was alright. It was emotional, but I didn't cry over it. I will admit, I do not see Twilight's voice coming out of her new form. I would've expected it to be similar to Celestia since Twilight has been showered by her influence, a lot. It was nice to see everyone in the future. The student six look great. It was nice seeing the cmc as adults, again. The cake twins are older now. Flurry Heart has taken rule over The Crystal Empire. As I said before, CheesePie is canon and I love it, and Pinkie is the only mane 6 to be a momma. How adorable. Rarity and Fluttershy don't seem like they've changed that much. Rainbow Dash is captain of the wonderbolts and that's awesome. Applejack is head Apple of the apple farm. Big Mac and Sugar Belle are parents, too. Spike looks okay, he seems weird to me. But, that's just me. lol. The song was fine. It's not very catchy, just emotional. Which is fine. :)

So, again, I was enjoyably disappointed. The Series Finale could've been better, but it was okay. 5/10.
