Well, Trollestia strikes again. I can only applaud her cunning.
All this talk about how Twilight must the one to do everything and an emphasis on how she must do this alone and only alone. That was obviously just another test of Celestia. A test to see if Twilight is selfless enough to sacrifice her own personal interests in order to do what is right... even if it might bite her in the back later (although it doesn't). Bravo, Celestia!
Celestia is obviously preparing Twilight for something great. But what? Ascention to Alicornhood? Tutelage under Luna in order to learn newly discovered dark magic? Oh the possibilities. It's like one of the show creators was busy in summer reading numerous MLP-fanfics...
That would be in-line with your top favorite variety of 'fic too!
I do question though, how is it where you are? It's been awhile since my last trip trough or to there.

Totally, although, completely improbable.
I doubt that Twilight would become an alicorn in the series, because that's a rather somber theme for a kids' show. With all the "you are now immortal and will have to watch everything you know and love slowly wither away and die". Studying dark magic is also something they'd never do in a show intended for kids. 
As for "Twilestia". Well, I don't really need to comment on that, do I?
