The Crystal Empire followup (SPOILERS) · 1:06am Nov 12th, 2012
Okay everybody. It's been a day since the Season 3 premiere of ponies, and now the season is officially underway. Incidentally, we are also one month away from the end of the world (I can't recall if it was the 12th or the 21st).
Now, I could go on and talk about the episodes in general, but there's something I'd rather cover.
Any writer who has made their own fanon always has the fear that something in the show will completely wreck any ideas of their fanfics, as in, stories that were meant to be long running, held firmly by just a fanon idea, fall completely apart because of canon material. You know what I'm talking about.
Now, I bet you're wondering if this is the case for me. It is, but actually it's quite the opposite. The new episode, The Crystal Empire Parts 1 and 2, actually enforced my fanfic fanon. You can imagine how pleasantly surprised I am.
So now, I'm going to list the particular things that made my fanon have even sturdier ground than before (and mind you, I try to keep such things as sensible and reasonable as possible). I should also warn that these things might be a bit spoilerish to my future stories, though only slightly.
The existence of Dark Magic
Emotions powering Magic (other than love)
Dark stones inhibiting magic
(Blue eyes, hard to discern)
(Gold eyes, appeared after taking off helm)
Enchanted Armor to change appearance of Guards
The correlation between Dark Magic and 'Normal' Magic (in that both cause different things to react, such as the troll door)
It's a bit exciting to see your fanon proven possible to exist within the show, and even more so when it gets justified.
So yes, do expect these things to show up in my future stories. They were already going to, but that's the point.
Anyways, here's to the rest of Season 3.
