---Season 9--Episode 15---
Firstly, gotta love how they conveyed passive aggressive sarcasm with just one word in their episode title.
But I’ve also seen enough of today’s setup to know what some Bronies, on this website at least, are going to be questioning. Regardless of the episode’s moral, characterization or execution:
“If Unicorns can perform the feats of a Pegasus and Earth Pony, even without actively using their horns, isn’t the show just out right telling us that unicorns are better than all of them, and that the sub-species of ponies are vestigial?”
So let’s put aside the fact that judging a person’s worth on lineage, body type and physical performance is completely against the spirit of the show. Or basic decency.
Yes, if this were a pen-and-paper RPG, Earth Ponies will be better suited for the role for cracking open someone’s skull, lifting equipment, or taking bullet wounds.
Yeah, if this were the tournament arc in an anime, where teenagers and children are encouraged to push their bodies to the point of scarring themselves for life, then the show should acknowledge that Earth Ponies have the edge.
This is a friendly scholastic competition in “Friendship is Magic.”
The low stakes is also why I don’t see any problem with Fluttershy coaching, compared to the role in the Equestria Games that got foisted upon her in Rainbow Falls. Of course there’s also her professional experience suiting the role, and all of her confidence she’s grown these past few years.
