It's here! My most-played tabletop RPG is finally getting a second edition!
Tagline: What would you do with the power of a god?
The premise is that in the year 2018 (Originally 1998), the space station Galatea exploded, and a number of hours later people all over the world began "erupting" with superhuman powers. The game takes place 10 years later in 2028, establishing it as a "near-future" setting, and the world has changed significantly. The UN has more power than it ever has before, a private organization (the Aeon Society) created a group (Project Utopia) specifically to study, train, and manage as many of these superhumans (called novas) as they can.
Some novas are mercenaries (Elites), some novas think they ought to be apart from humanity (the Teragen), some fight for their countries, some just wanna be rich.
It's the best take I've seen on the premise of what might happen if normal people in a normal world started getting ridiculous amounts of power, and I love the shit out of it.
So I'm hawking it here. There's no chance that this won't fund (It's nearly there less than a day in), but I think everyone ought to at least check it out. If you back at any level, the first update has the first two chapters of the book ready to read. Every Tuesday until it ends, they'll put out more chapters until you have the full book in unedited, plain text form.
