Election Night, 2012 · 7:22am Nov 7th, 2012

I live in the United States of America. I was born here, in a southern state named Texas, and live in bordering Louisiana. I was raised by two loving parents, and by a loving big brother. I am proud of my brother for having bravely served in country in the National Guard Reserve, and I am thankful everyday that he came home safe from Iraq. I am moved by the song Independence Day by Martina Mcbride every time I listen to it, which you can listen to below.

I am thoroughly convinced, without any shred of doubt, that this nation, as intended by our founding fathers - great men like George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and so many others - is the greatest single thing to ever be forged by human hands in the history of the world. The idea that government should serve its people, instead of the other way around. The fact that thousands upon thousands of people voted with their feet, to come from all corners of the world, for the opportunity of a better life in America.

I feel like we have gotten so far away from government's intended purpose. Government has a very limited, specific role - it's primary function, before all else, is to both protect the country from foreign enemies and protect citizens from assault from their fellow citizens. By extending the role of government beyond what its (very limited) bounds should be, you end up not doing even those two basic things well. I advocate a return to how the country was when founded - the federal government having extremely limited, clearly-defined rights, and all other rights not explicitly given to the federal government is reserved to the individual states.

On November 6th, 2012, the people of the United States of America have rejected the original intention of our founding fathers, and instead have elected to go the route of the USSR, the Soviet Bloc, and the European Union and have elected for a policy of increased government regulation, control, and less individual responsibility and freedom. By the re-election of the incumbents - President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden - the people have asked for more government spending, less personal liberty, and an extension of government control far beyond what is good for the nation or the people. By rejecting the challengers - Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan - the people say that they reject the principals our founding fathers based the Constitution on - small federal government, high rights allocated to states, and the freedom to run your own life.

This morning (1:08 am now), I silently weep for my country. This nation I love. The greatest in the world, without question. We have desecrated what we once stood for. We once stood for freedom. But our own government is a tyrant. We once stood for an incorruptible will to do good in our lives. But now our people demand that they be given certain things without making any effort to acquire the means to support themselves.

It is my greatest fear that the slippery slope we have been on will suddenly become a sheer fall, straight down. As regulation increases, so will freedom decrease. As our position in foreign affairs deteriorates, so will our sovereignty be threatened. As our economy struggles against the insurmountable government bureaucratic nightmare, so will it be that it is no longer in the best interest of the individual to attempt to improve the economy by creating jobs. Should we continue down this road, tyranny and the complete collapse of our economy, as has happened in Greece, Spain, Portugal, with so many other EU nations on the brink, I do not think we can recover without the will to injure ourselves so our children can have better lives and a better chance to get us back on the path of prosperity, which has always been, without fail, complete free trade and free enterprise.

Otherwise, the result has only one possible ending - The USA will become the USSA - United Soviet States of America.
