"A Pup Named Fenrir" Status + Overall Update

Hiya, gang! Sorry for the radio silence, I just needed some time away while I sorted out some personal things. I've undergone a spiritual and emotional re-evaluation of my life and current circumstances, figuring out how to proceed with the way events have played out. For a while, I was afflicted by low-energy and what I thought was writer's block, leaving me capable of coming up with new ideas

Season Nine the End Or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Series · 5:21am Feb 27th, 2019

"This song is ending but the story never ends"
-Ood Sigma
Doctor Who, "The End of Time, Part 2"

So it's been recently announced that Season 9 of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" will be its last. Well, I may be a newcomer to the fandom, but I think I can speak for all of us when I say that this has been one memorable ride. It's always sad to get to the ending of something we love, whether it be a book, move, TV show or even a great moment. We treasure that day or media because it has affected us so much and we hate to see it end. But you know what? That's life. There's a beginning and an ending. Then again, never really ends. Not when we hold onto it and remember all of the good times.

I only started watching MLP: FiM a year ago and yet here I am writing a sentimental blog post about the damn thing. It's funny how these things happen. I'm not into cute stuff. I'm primarily a connoisseur of the dark and the macabre, whether it be horror films or the more adult and edgier manga/anime like Berserk or Death Note. Somehow, the bright and colorful world of Equestria and its chipper, happy inhabitants have stricken a cord with me, melting away some of the ice from my cynical heart. Maybe its because it reminds me of a time when I was innocent boy looking at the world through a kaleidoscope. Maybe as a person struggling with depression and body image issues it just resonates with me to believe in a place where all you need is a positive attitude and the loyalty of a group of great friends.

As of late, I've become something of a laughing stock to my younger (but still adult) brother and stepfather, both of whom have taken every ample opportunity to mock me for my interest in this particular media. It's infuriating, sure, but it's ultimately what I enjoy. So f*** them. The same advice goes for the rest of you. If someone can't respect your interests, don't let them bother you. It's your passions, your drives so you can't be wrong. Be yourself and you will never feel incomplete.

So where was I? Ah, yes. Anyway, with the series coming to a close, some of you may feel a heavy sadness in your hearts and a great emptiness developing in your souls. Some of you may even quit browsing or writing for this site. I'm here to tell you that I will be doing neither. Yep, I'm going to continue writing and checking out whatever you put out. I suppose it's my way of keeping the fandom going. The quote I used above was just too perfect not to use. When the Tenth Doctor regenerated into the Eleventh, oh yes, there was much sorrow. But that wasn't the end of the series, just David Tennant's run. It was still Doctor Who and it was still happening, just with a new actor and showrunner at the helm. So please, stay with me, with the site.

Just like our (mostly sci-fi geeks) favorite Time Lord, change is inevitable but that doesn't mean that we have to forget what came before. We can look back on what we loved with fondness while also gazing forward with hope. Who knows? Maybe the next show will be even better. Maybe it will incorporate elements of FiM or pay loving tribute to it. All I can say is that even with the change, the love and spirit of MLP will not. To whatever happens, colts and fillies, let's embrace this new future together. Allons-y!

Don't worry we still have Generation 5 to look forward to.

Aye boy-o, that we do. Still, it will take some time to adjust to the new changes. Sort of like whenever the Doctor regenerates. We've spent time with this person, grown to like them and then see them change appearance and personality. Same person, just new look.
