Going into this I didn't have a structure in place for my thoughts to revolve around, so this is an example of
"rambling on"
When you hear someone talk about rambling, it's understood as when they're getting off topic, or beginning to complain/rant. But to ramble is to go on talking without a fully visualized end point in mind. If you don't know what your main point or topic is and every idea is generalized, you're rambling.
But a ramble can also a rant: A rant doesn't usually serve any purpose other than to let off steam, but as far as conveying information, it's pointless and therefore just a ramble. Obviously rants can serve to provide useful information, but rarely in my experience. Rants are not an effective means of making a argument, or changing a persons mind. However a person who is calm and takes the time to think over their ideas, study relevant information and write out their points as concisely as possible is far more likely to be successful then a person who goes head first into a heated rant that often lacks critical thinking, is all too likely to fail. And just as how a rant can be a ramble, a rant can also be well thought out; As it simply means to speak at length in a rather loud and angry, or passionate (or both) way. And rants are more often then not characterized by prioritizing feelings over facts.
But to ramble could be to go on about irrelevant or unnecessary information such as an experience that happened to you which is unrelated to the current situation or which detracts from something more important in the moment.
I have no idea if most of what I post about is obvious or confusing to people, but if I post it then it makes at least some sense to me.
By the way, I could argue/rant about how much of an annoyance online purchasing can be.
