The Stable difference - Fallout: Equestria. Fanfiction idea · 10:52pm Mar 4th, 2018
Meant as a compliant to Fallout: Equestria. Its purpose would be to give fans extra content who have finished the story and are seeking more time to get to know the world better that they've come to care for.
Envisioned as a Oneshot, following the creation of Stable-Tec, what led to its foundation and the philosophy behind its actions to save its country by means of understanding the nature of ponies and using that knowledge to prevent such a state of the nation from happening ever again.
I'm unsure what point of view this story would take but I'm liking the idea of having several main characters who become the focus whenever relevant to the plot, most if not all would be high ranking in the Stable company. I can say that it wouldn't be written in third person after the factly (as if the events had already taken place and were being recounted by an individual who was present) as the main story had been.
I'm also thinking of adding the occasional buffer in the story to show an event/memory of one of the characters from some earlier time in their life to help the reader understand how they've changed and what that information means in the present. That is, in the context of this story. This is essentially the memory orb idea from the main story; If no one else noticed they were used mostly as a plot device to give the characters reason to develop or simply to move the story along, at least in the later chapters. This is just to give you an idea of the purpose of flashbacks/reliving the past in stories.
I mean for this to focus on the psychological aspects of the Stables, so it would be a dark tale. What could lead one or more individuals who knew nothing but peace most of their lives to go down the path of experimention on citizens, deciding that their right to life and self determination was no longer vaild as sacrifices were required to ensure the survival of their very civilization. And how the decisions were affecting those directly involved.
In what ways did Stable-Tec's philosophy mirror that of the Ministry Mares and how did they differ? They were all attempting to put a stop to the chaos through their unique understanding of the world. Stable-Tec wanted to understand the true nature of ponies, or for those without ignorance (referring to the mindset of many ponies in the story), the nature of all sentient beings.
The Stable difference and The Stable way are both names I thought would work as a title or as two separate chapters that share a connection. I wanted this story to be an addition to the main story, and as such can't contain continuity errors and so anything I stated previously that goes against lore would need to be changed. As far as the CMC go, the version of them in this story wouldn't be new, only serve to expand on the ones seen throughout the main story.
I want to see this idea realized for my own enjoyment really, if it was to be written I'd wish for it to have as much quantity as possible, without sacrificing quaility. I'm not excited about slapping the Fallout: E title to this for several reasons, but the main one being it would have barely any reference to Fallout in general and would take place primarily during and prior to the war years.
I don't intend fans of the main story to see this as being canon, which should be obvious as its coming from an entirely unrelated author, but the lines between what is or isn't canon for fanfiction stories seems really blured on this website.
I'll treat this story the same as any fanfiction of something , for example: the My little pony show.
The fanfiction existing doesn't mean its considered canon, even if it in some way continues a plot line or expands the lore, but that fact also doesn't detract or derail the story. People will come and read it regardless, they'll in many cases enjoy and praise its existence.
And finally, some stories are written with the intention of going hand in hand with another preexisting one, but sometimes the base story is continued in such a way that the fanfiction no longer fits in the continuity, which sounds depressing but it shouldn't really matter. The fanfiction story isn't somehow lesser because of it, it can continue being relevant even if its world diverges. As long as it's still set in essentially the same universe, and people are able to enjoy it, the issue of if it fits with the current or (Final) version of the story it's paroding becomes void and only the smallest nity picky bunch will care.
