Hey everyone,
This is a blog post I've considered waiting to go over the naming choices for things in Retrograde. Well, the chapters I named anyway. It should also be noted that I named the fic, and the name is what ultimately spawned what it was about, so how about that?
All of my titles come from songs, or albums, or sometimes bands (though that has technically yet to occur). In the case of the fic's title, Retrograde, it comes from the Silverstein song of the same name. You can listen to the song here: The Song (Just a heads up though: a lot of the music I end up pulling titles from have screams in them, so be warned if you ain't into that sort of thing.)
The title for chapter one, Lost Positives, is actually the song that follows the song Retrograde on the album the song is from. So it's more Silverstein: Listen Here
The title for the third chapter comes from an album title, and a song title... because the song is a title track. It's a song by a band called Secrets, off of their album Fragile Figures. Song / Album (or, if you prefer softer, acoustic songs, here's an alternative version for you here.)
Chapter Two's title, as well as the titles for both Chapters Four and Five, were picked by RQK, so they're relatively ambiguous in terms of origin.
Which leads us to the most recent chapter, Chapter 6: Erase Me. It was named after the album I used as background noise for writing part of it, and a line from a specific song from the album. I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with Underoath, but the title comes from their most recent album, Erase Me, which you can listen to here: The Album. If you want the song from the album the line "Erase Me" stems from, it's the song Ihateit, which you can listen to by clicking the song name :P
Anyway, in terms of the next chapter's title, I've got a few ideas in mind. Some chapter titles come easier than others after all.
Hope maybe I introduced you to some songs you end up liking, though I probably just blew your eardrums or something with my tastes in music!
