So I spent most of the day looking at reenactment stuff, which is definitely something I have a problem with. I want to spend way too much money. Basically, whenever my unit sends out a call asking for people to do something, if I don't have it, I look into buying it.
Basically, I almost just bought a service uniform like the one below before I even got my field uniform squared away, with a major D-Day event in Ohio coming up in August, which I still need to get $600+ in gear for.
Service Uniform for Enlisted Men that I almost bought (Specifically, the jacket.):
This is also setting aside the fact I have an incomplete WW1 kit as well that I still need $300+ kit for. And, by the way, I'm still borrowing rifles for these events. I'd need to get those, and they're insanely expensive. M1 Garand is ~$700 and an M1903 is ~$1100. Expensive as hell.
Plus, there's still more stuff I personally want to do, but I'd have to buy tons for. For example, US WW2 Navy Corpsman, WW1 US Army Medic, Vietnam US Rifleman, and some other stuff. All insanely expensive.
Just for reference, a decent fully kitted-out set of gear for a WW2 rifleman is around $1200 without a rifle.
So I have a problem. Thankfully, I've met people with several thousand dollars of stuff in gear. Like, enough to dress like 12 people. I can do 2, not for the same war.
Anyway, I've just decided to start doing this when I can't sleep and I'm procrastinating work on my writing. I'll go get back to work. Bye.
