    Happy St. Patrick's Day🍀☘️

Currently doing a bar crawl in Downtown (ok so we started in Corktown and are making our way through any good AVAILABLE bar today) with some friends and a couple of co-workers of mine, who we unintentionally ran into. Turns out great minds think alike! Ironically I'm the "Uber Call Girl" tonight so...unfortunately can't get TOO wasted (plus I actually have work tomorrow...couldn't call off).

My thoughts on the mini-series "Watership Down" (2018) · 3:27am Dec 31st, 2018

Warning: SPOILERS ABOUND WILL BE MARKED!!! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!

I would like to preface this by saying that I read the original book back in 6th grade and watched the 1978 television film when I was 7 on accident (and again just two days ago for this reviews' purpose). While I never watched the tv series from the late 90s, I shall leave that out of this review. Anyways, onto the review of the 2018 mini-series.

Okay so firstly whoever thought a story about the survival of rabbits wasn't a good idea, clearly hasn't read the original copy of the story. This new breath of life into which, I had the pleasure of watching (and re-watching) on Netflix was definitive proof of the speculation that this story, while a survival story was a secret horror book in disguise astounded me upon closer examination. The base plot of Watership Down is as follows:

Set in southern England, the story features a small group of rabbits. Although they live in their natural environment, they are anthropomorphised, possessing their own culture, language, proverbs, poetry, and mythology. The rabbits escape the destruction of their warren and seek a place to establish a new home, encountering perils and temptations along the way.

Okay so that base plot seems pretty thin yes? Well that's to keep the element of surprise for the viewer to experience. Okay while I feel this updated looking version was absolutely wonderful, I only have one small problem: the animation. It honestly looks like something you'd see in a PS2 game from 2005. Yeah...I know--yikes! Other than that, the story was strong and I will admit the scenery was brilliantly designed. Despite that the characters weren't. I mean, hell even for a movie in 1978...that's some 40 years ago that had slightly better animation. Photorealistic probably wasn't the best move there. Honestly! I half expected the climactic seige between the Efrafa and Watership Down warrens to look better that what was presented. However I have more praise in the voice casting department. Many big names were tied to this project like: James McAvoy, John Boyega, Ben Kingsley and Taron Edgerton to name a few. Each and every one of them did a spendid job at their respective roles (no matter how big or small they were)! Lastly, I'd like to mention the song that plays during the credits of each part. Sweet Jebuz! I absolutely adore Sam Smith and this song "Fire on Fire" completely benefits me saying this! It completely ties up the struggles the warren has to go through in order to achieve peace and well...it does a magnificent job of it!

Overall rating: 10/10 :yay:s

I'm guessing this is a British show? I'm in America and I haven't heard of this.

Have you ever seen the animated feature film version of Watership Down? With the late John Hurt voicing Hazel.

Of all things, I caught it on TV sometime in the early 2000s (I might've been 7) it was around a holiday time and I accidentally clicked on BBC (because Canada is so close to Michigan that I could access it easily) and there it was on. It had just came on and I was all forms of confused and intrigued.
