The Quickverse - What Could Have Been, and May Still Be · 7:17pm Dec 22nd, 2018
So, after a little under three and a quarter years of planning, writing, seeing what I wrote as trash and then seeing people generally disagree, I'm all done with what amounted to the original plan for the Quickverse. Honestly, I didn't even expect it to do quite as well as it did and I want to again thank everyone that read it. Which just makes it that little bit harder to say that I currently don't plan to continue the storyline.
Honestly, constantly pushing to go a little bit further every time was more stressful than it needed to be, along with the ever eternal problems of creativity fluxes, steadily getting slower in my writing, and just generally being up against better stories. I'm not saying that I'm completely done with the Quickverse. I've got an idea kicking around for ended up writing an alternate ending setpiece in Almost Left Unsaid and had a whole mash of half-baked concepts for a season 2 of sorts. Just that I don't have any idea when or if I'll properly return to writing on such a scale. That said, I don't want to just leave the ideas to be forgotten. So, as a final season gift of sorts, I'm going to jot all those pieces down here so I can return to them when/if needed. Any titles and synopsis are WIP, but they're something. So, here they are:
Quickverse - Season 2 concepts:
A Dull Sunrise - Four months after the 'Sunset Crisis' has come to a close, Equestria may be recovering, but some struggle to move on from the scars it left them with.
Into the Jaws - The new Elements of Harmony face their first test together as one of their predecessor's old foes emerges from the depths of Tartarus.
Onward - An anthology of shorter stories about those finding a way forward from the aftermath of Tantabus' actions:
- The Mage of the Everfree - With her life's work left in tatters, Fluttershy may find herself a new purpose with the help of some old friends.
- Legacy - Apple Bloom seeks something to ensure more than her lover's memory remains in the years to come.
- A Longer Walk - Even though she has her own handicap to overcome, Scootaloo, with some help from Trixie, seeks to help a friend broken by the crisis.
- Something More to Us - Aurora faces a major hurdle in his path to becoming king, worsened by the presence of some...ling.
- The Mares Who Had Everything - Peace Walker finds unexpected solace in another pony who felt they lost everything.
The Torch of Fate - Struggling with doubt over what she is anymore, Rainbow Dash is approached by her old friend Daring Do for one last expedition to stop her oldest foe for good. While she has time.
Storm Front - The appearance of a mythical creature within Equestria offers slim warming before ponies must stand again. Not just for themselves, but alongside all the continent in the face of the Storm King!
Storm Breakers - A set of side stories to Storm Front, showing the efforts of those other fronts in the fight against the Storm King's forces. From the jungles of Zebahi to the skies of Mt. Aris and beyond. All must stand, or none shall succeed.
If the fandom's still going in a few years, these stories might see the light of day. In the meantime, I'll round this off with something that was actually finished. This was my original ending for Chapter 27 of Black Sun, before I merged a few more ideas into it. The flow of the chapter didn't work with it in place. It's completely unedited as it is, but it might answer one or two minor questions.
Black Sun - Deleted Scene:
An hour later, Sweetie was back on the streets of Canterlot. After Coco had gone to check on Rarity's boutique in the city, she had left Apple Bloom and Maud with Pinkie and headed out. Much as she wanted to spend more time with Rarity, there was always the evening visiting hours.
Her idea had brought her to the Guard Headquarters near the castle, only to find out that the pony she was looking for was off-duty today. Luckily that actually made her search easier, as she knew his home address from sending him tickets to her performances. That brought her to where she was now, a street of quality houses just off Restaurant Row. Shining white stone with gold lining for the windows, door and roof. Fitting for a pony she knew was a hero.
Sweetie stepped up to the front door and rang the doorbell, hoping that he was actually in. A few moments later, sounds of activity on the other side of the door drew her attention and she sighed in relief. The door opened to reveal an amethyst pegasus stallion, his normally wild ruby and scarlet mane flat on his neck and a glint of annoyance in his dark blue eyes.
"Lepiej nie bądź-" He muttered in zebra as he opened the door, adjusting the towel wrapped around his shoulders. The irritation in his voice died instantly as he realised who was standing there. "Sweetie Belle?"
"Hi, Oka," She replied happily, taking Sky Eye in fully and smiling more as she noticed the slight blush that came to his face. "Are you busy?"
"Wh...Oh, no. Just out of the shower is all," Sky stepped back to let her inside. "Is something wrong?"
"Not at all. I just, needed somepony to talk to."
