MLP Gaming - Pool of Radiance (2)

2020 has just started, and I now feel motivated to keep blogging my gaming session. 2019 kept me VERY busy, but don't worry. I won't take 9 months for the next one. I promise. In fact, I'm going to make several small ones out of what I've made

So, our 6 companions reached the abandoned Melkor library, hoping to find books that might've help the city of New Phlan.

MLP Gaming: Pool of Radiance (1)

Since Wizardry VI takes a LOT of skill grinding before I can even begin (and this is really damn boring for me to do this in one shot), I decided to show off another game. This one is as old as me.

    Not-so-shameless promotion

I'm a VERY low-key FimFiction user. I don't know how many I'm going to reach, but I do want to promote a certain fan-animation.

The Fall of Sunset Shimmer, by Minty Root

    Simply wonderful.

    MLP Gaming

I figured that if I can't write anything insightful, at least I can write something entertaining.

Every Brony has their own quirks. Some write fanfictions, some spend way too much time gazing at fanarts, some write analysis and some spend sleepness night imagining characters paired together. As for me, I get a certain kick out of playing RPGs as my favorite MLP characters.

    Some signal that need boosting

I've only done one other blog post (due to my rather uninteresting life and that I don't write nowadays), but here's something that deserves attention. And even if I only reach the couple few that somehow follow me, at least I will have reached someone and done my part.

I've been a fan of cRPG for quite a while (although I got into them way after their time). Especially old school RPGs. Ever since GOG opened it's doors back in 2008 and I bought the first Fallout, I really got into playing old-school RPGs (I went on to re-discover Baldur's Gate, Might and Magic and a couple of hidden gems like Silver). And ever since I got a certain mod from here (https://saber-scorpion.com/gaming/mods_mlp.php) for Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, whenever an RPG had me create my character or my team (especially my team), I ended up playing as MLP characters.

I've been doing this for quite a while, and I decided to show off some examples. Note that this is not a progress blog. I may show my progress with these teams, but only if I feel it. I have WAY too many games and I keep being distracted with another (I'm also playing The Witcher 3 on the side). I can't promise I'll have more posts. But if I see that this one is appreciated, I may give myself a little push.

And I love introducing old stuff to people.

First, Wizardry 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge (1990)

A really old school dungeon crawler with graphics and sounds that were already outdated when it came out (seriously? EGA 16 colors in 1990?), but one with a great progression system and a rather interesting story.

Due to the really various races (and that classes works better with certain races), I decided to go with the Student 6.

Smolder is a Valkyrie Draco (a race of humanoid dragons who can breath acid if they need to).
Sandbar is an human Monk (he's an Earth Pony, the most "normal" of the races, so I figured he'd be the token human).
Gallus is a felpurr Ninja (Felpurr are a race of cat people and he's a griffin (half-feline))
Yona is a mook Bard (Mooks are basically Wookies. And I chose Bard because it worked better for mooks and, of course, yovidaphones)
Silverstream is an elvish Priestess (Hippogryphs kinda felt like elves in the one episode we saw of them, and I needed a priestess)
Ocellus is a faerie Mage (because she's the bookworm)

I'm right now at the hardest part of the game: Grinding skills. Wizardry 6 uses a skill system similar to The Elder Scrolls (except that leveling is done independantly) where skills improve as you use them and I'm trying to get everyone's class skills up to a certain point before I level up (since I get skill points at each level up on top of those I train). And my characters are VERY weak at the beginning. I'm trying to space my grinding sessions or else I'll go insane.

I'll have another post very soon (need to upload the screenshot somewhere) about another classic game.

Hope you like these posts. If you want me to be more informative, just shoot a comment.
