The LGBT Community and the Christian Church: The 3 Questions that Homophobic "Christians" and unsure LGBT Christians need Answered (Rant) · 7:49am Sep 23rd, 2018

Hey guys. It's me, TheArquius. Today I want to talk about something a bit more serious than what I normally talk about. Yes, that's right, GENO IS GONNA BE IN SMASH BABYY-

No, actually I have a kind of rant I want to go on today. It's basically about the LGBT Community, the Christian Church, and what I think about it. Let me just clarify before I begin- This is my opinion. I'm sure that some of my arguments have flaws, but try to have an open mind when reading.

Alright, here we go into the rabbit hole.

I am an active supporter and ally of the LGBT Community. Despite popular Christian beliefs, I strongly do not believe that being gay or lesbian or any part of the LGBT community is a sin. My girlfriend, Bonnie, is biromantic, polyamorous and demisexual, and her gender identity is demigirl. (I could talk about how proud I am of her, and how I love her so much because she is such an amazing and diverse person, but I'll save that for a separate blog for the sake of how long this one is gonna be. Still, I love you Bonnie! ❤️) Something else that defines my girlfriend is the fact that she's a Christian. We both are. We both love Jesus cuz he's a cool dude with a nice beard, and he loves us. However, there is another popular Christian belief that if you are a part of the LGBT community, you can't possibly be a Christian. Why is that? Well, we must first delve deeper into why Christians in general are against the LGBT community.

Leviticus is a book in the Bible, and it's a weird-ass book at that. Christian beliefs on the LGBT community mainly come from one verse of this book that basically states that Homosexuality is an "abomination". Whoa wait, the Bible says that? Man, I guess the conversation is over, the LGBT community is full of a bunch of sinners! Except no, this book is the most contradictory piece of shit in existence. Leviticus was basically a book of rules. Rules that don't apply to today, yet for some reason, people are still stupid enough to follow them. It's a book that kind of advocates for slavery, it says that if a woman is on her period, she must go burn her clothes in a forest or some shit like that, it said we can't wear clothes with polyester blends, and for fuck's sake, it basically calls lobster an abomination. Literally, it states in that book that if you eat something from the sea that doesn't have fins, it's an abomination. I've never been more insulted in my life. The reason why I bring this up is because we do not follow these rules at all. Now we have tampons, slavery is illegal, everyone wears jeans almost every day (unless you're like me and wear basketball shorts cuz you're lazy), and Red Lobster is an actual restaurant that has the most delicious biscuits ever. So why, might I ask, do we still follow only that one rule when everything else is dumb? Well, I'll answer that momentarily.

For now, let's talk about the only other mention of homosexuality in the Bible- a letter that Paul wrote. I automatically don't think that this is actual proof that being LGBT is sinning, mostly because these words aren't God's- they're Paul's. Or Peter's. I don't fucking know lmao.

Sodom and Gamora is also irrelevant because their sin was being greedy and not helping poor people. Bunch of twats.

Anyways, that brings me to one of the three million-dollar questions I will be asking in this post. Why are we still following that one rule, despite most of everything else in Leviticus being completely irrelevant? Well the answer is- hate. You see, the difference between most of these other rules and this one is the idea of what it's aimed at. In saying that homosexuality is an abomination, it is saying that people who are LGBT are sinning and must be stopped. This creates a large "us against them" mindset, which Christians tend to focus on as they try to spread their faith. Let me put you into the mind of an evangelical Christian who sees a gay couple on the street.

>sees gay couple

>they are sinning. must stop them and convert the to Jesus.

>"You'll go to hell if you keep being gay and don't turn to Jesus!"

This "us against them" mindset isn't only used against the LGBT community, but sinners in general. Christians tend to do this really fucking annoying thing where they try to tell people that what they're doing is wrong, without providing any evidence besides the Bible. And guess what? Most of the people they tell aren't Christians and don't believe in the Bible. Here's the thing- that isn't what Christianity is about. That isn't how you approach someone, no matter what the hell you believe. How do you approach someone with what you believe? Well, to answer that we're gonna go even deeper than necessary. So deep that you'll feel it.

The question I mentioned above is the third of the 3 questions I intend to answer in this blog, so before we get to that, let's talk about the second question- Should Christians be dealing and interacting with the LGBT community? The answer is... no.

Now before you get up in arms about how wrong I am, allow me to explain. I'm not saying that Christians shouldn't talk to anyone in the LGBT Community, but I am saying that they shouldn't be trying to tackle whatever issue they keep trying to tackle. Imagine this- The LGBT Community is basically like the Native Americans while Europeans invaded. Let's say that they're on their own little LGBT island, for now. So now imagine this- big Christian warships are coming in and invading their island. They're taking over the island and throwing away the LGBT island culture as a replacement for their own beliefs, which they happen to be forcing onto the natives. That's what Christians do when interacting with the LGBT community.

"You believe something that is different than what I believe?! Well now I'm going to tell you how wrong you are and how you're a sinning piece of garbage!" That is the mindset of a Christian who is interacting with the LGBT community. Now, I'm not going to go ahead and say that all Christians are like this, as Bonnie and I are basically the exact opposite of that, but it's really damn common. Until Christians know how to properly interact with the LGBT community, I think they should stay as far away from the Community as possible.

Now back to the third question. How do I approach someone with what I as a Christian believe? Well, to know the answer, we must first know what Christianity is about. Luckily, we don't need to go deep because the answer is simple- it's about love. More specifically, spreading the love of Jesus. In the Bible, it never said to oppress and condemn people who have different beliefs than you. It doesn't matter if you think that the LGBT community was created by Satan, or if you're an actual decent human being who is neutral or supporting in this conflict. Spreading the love of Jesus ALWAYS comes first, which is something that everyone seems to forget. Judgement and condemnation is for God, and God alone. Let him do his job, and you do yours as a Christian.

Damn, I almost forgot to answer the very first question in this blog- Can you be LGBT and Christian? Of course you fucking can. Despite what anyone believes, if you believe that being LGBT is a sin, or if you are a supporter who thinks it's fine, it all boils down to one thing- we are all sinners. We are all imperfect m. You were imperfect ever since Eve ate that piece of shit Apple. If being LGBT was a sin, which it isn't, what makes it different from anything else? Every Christian in the world is a sinner. What makes the Christians in the LGBT community different?

Anyways, thanks for reading, if something doesn't make sense it's probably because I wrote this at 12:40 AM. In one go. Fuck.

Anyways, make sure to join the LGBT + Christian Support Group because it is basically for everything I talked about in this blog post. Or something.

The Christian Bronies group here actually sucks some Dino dick because it's just filled to the brim with the Homophobic Christians that this blog is about, so I don't recommend it. That's why the LGBT + Christian Support Group is good, cuz homophobes aren't allowed.

Alright, that's it for me, see yaaa

As a Christian myself and a non brony. I have no issues with LGBT. Now I do have issues with some of the people that have tried to HIjack it and turn it into their little I must complain about everything and so on. But with me I see no issue with it. Some ask me and I just go *Shrugs* I don't care. There is more things to care about in life then that simply.

So deep that you'll feel it.

oooohh that's what she said

I would like to say, to anyone who reads this blog, that I, as an LGBT+ Christian, am also kinda oppressed by the LGBT community. They also tend to believe that it's impossible to be both.

A comment on Ice's thread promoting the LGBT Christians group in the LGBT group:

I just don't understand why anyone would choose to be involved with an ideology that explicitly hates who they are.

The thing about that, and very nicely explained by Sporktacles in the thread itself, is that there are many different Christian ideaologies. My personal ones being it's perfectly fine to be LGBT+ and still Christian so long as you are still spreading God's Word to the people who are willing to listen.

Many of the points in this blog as well as in Sporktacles comment help to confirm that.

Here's the thread I'm talking about if anyone is interested in reading through it.

The point of the group I made was so that other LGBT+ Christians would have a safe space away from the homophobic trash that are the Christian groups on this site, and from the LGBT+ community that just keeps bashing the Christian belief.

Here's the thing about all people that think that being LGBT and Christian don't mix. There are 2 qualifications to being a Christian-

1. Believing that Jesus is God and believing in the Gospel
2. Accepting him as your Savior and Lord.

That's it. There's no third rule that states "you can't be LGBT", and I have no idea of where that idea came from. Anyone that believes in the nonexistent third rule has an ass-backwards mind lmao.

Also, the person who made the comment on the LGBT thread has a very misconstrued idea of what Christianity is. I'm glad Sporktacles stepped in and explained it more in depth to them.

15/10 comment, +5 because it's from Bonnie
