Okay so, just a quick little update here. As of right now, the 2 week time challenge I set for myself has expired, and I'm definitely a ways away from finishing the next chapter. (I've got something like 3,500 words raw)
I am severely disappointed in myself. I won't really waste time expressing that, but I'm seriously frustrated about this. No whining, though.
In review, the cause was pretty clear. I was swamped with work shortly after the challenge initiated. Even when I did get free time, things just seemed to fall apart for one reason or another. It was stuff like my computers breaking, personal things popping up etc. However, I still could have done more so I don't feel like I'm completely absolved of blame.
Through this experience I did learn something. I've gotten a lot more efficient with my time when I get it. Here's a little secret: I only got 3 days where I was able to work on it over the total 14. Cranking math, that's something around 1,000+ words per 2 hour sitting. It's not impressive, but it's a huge improvement from my usual pace. Taking those numbers into account it is actually very reasonable to create a chapter within 2 weeks as long as I get a few hours per day. That's kind of exciting really.
I'm going to try to finish the chapter (I make no promises this time, but it will probably be soon.) and then I've got to probably take a small hiatus to finish the ending chaos of my college semester. After that, I've got a pretty big break so I'll have much more free time.
Well, for those who were wondering, there it is. Sorry I couldn't come through on my word there.
PS: Hope you guys had a great Nightmare Night. I sat inside and happily typed away. Got through a part in a scene. Probably going to have to chuck it out, though. I tried to work on building Wave Chaser, but so far it's just functioning as pointless dialogue that takes time away from the action that's up next. Suggestions would always be welcome.
Hey sup!
Writing can be like that sometimes, but between the slow, painful parts are the incredibly fun scenes that seem to pass by too fast. On a good day, I can type about 700+ over a 24 hours period (most days 200+), so 1,000 in 2 hours is pretty good comparatively. It's a lot easier if you like what your typing though, and you sound pretty happy about puting out your next chapter, so thats good news. Let me know if you need me to pre-read again.
Weather has been crazy round here in PA, electrical lines, trees and all sorts of craps been blown down. I thank god every hour we have power since a lot neighborhoods went down Monday and aren't coming back untill the fourth. Anyways, Nightmare Night (aka Halloween) was a blast for me. I sat on the porch perfectly still while dressed up as Slenderman scareing the crap out of everyone who went by, or were brave enough to dare to take candy from me. That plus the weather means less trick or treaters, less candy given out, and more for me.
Write on, my friend.

I appreciate the encouragement, Midway. That's always helpful. Kinda been in a slump because of this, but I have to remind myself of all the good moments I've had while writing. There seem to always be at least a few times where I'm happy with what I come up with, and others find enjoyment in the story.
As far as pre-reading goes, now that you mention it, I do have a specific concern over the level of violence/gore. I'll give you details in a personal message soon enough. (I have to at least do a little tidying up. Those scenes are raw after all)
