Looking for a group · 2:17am Aug 18th, 2018

I've been looking out for a political discussion group for some time now. My career does work a lot around the area anyways, and it is a theme that interest me. The problem is that most (if not all) of the groups I've seen so far are remakes of 4chan, with a heavy leaning on right-wing and actively anti-pc. As much as I enjoy getting into a discussion with every kind of side, there's a finite number of times I can take the typical repetitions of buzz phrases like "capitalism is the only way; communism is still a threat; there are only two genders; social rights are discrimination against white males; all muslims are terrorists; all latinos are drug dealers".

So, what I'm trying to ask here is that if is there an actual group for political discussion that hasn't devolved into a childish "we say whatever we want" attitude? You know, where I can say that Marxism had a valid point and get an actual argument in favor or against, without being talked down by the administrator because I'm being paid by Xi Jinping to spread communist propaganda? (not making this up disclaimer). I don't think I'm asking for that much.

Well, I'll invite you again

Here are the rules

The ban list so you can see what won't be allowed.

You can hang out for a while to see for yourself, I also recommend you to check the old post not made by me because there are threads ranging a lot of stuff (I'm basically the one covering Venezuela and maybe some parts of Latin America) including the war on Yemen (I may not agree with the statement done by the Original Poster but it did give me a ground to start making the research for myself)

And, lastly, stay away from Lorenzo.

The Unsafe Space is a politically incorrect group

For the last time, I don't want to enter group where Alex Jones is the base of discussion, I'm done with them.

The anonymous nature of the internet makes such a thing difficult to find. All the places I've seen have been radically right, like 4chan, or radically left, like Tumblr. It's more to do with the fact that people take more extreme beliefs in an anonymous setting than in a real world setting. It's why rioters loot and steal and the week later go to their nephews birthday party to make steaks. People are more likely to think similarly to others in large groups, which, when combined with anonymity, makes people say and do things they wouldn't otherwise. There is also the fact that those people are parodies of extremism, which can be difficult to distinguish from real extremism.

No kidding. I got the theory that it al comes from the fact that following an absolute dogma is mentally easier than thinking things through. For example, saying "all parties are terrible, so I won't vote" carries less responsibility and weight than "I know this party presents X, which I support because of Y". But that's just an hypothesis of mine.

Yeah, too many people don't like to think, because sometimes it challenges their world view. It can be hard having your opinion completely changed on something like religion or politics, so people don't think about it.
